Thyroid problems can be exacerbated by - Lyme disease. Thinning hair can be a symptom of Lyme disease. It sounds bizarre, I know. The primary bacteria associated with Lyme disease is Borrelia burgdorferi. It is a spirochete, like syphilis (think how syphilis is passed - any body fluid). The spirochete produces neuro-toxic lipids that cause stress on various systems in the body. I think of it this way - the stress of Lyme triggers anything that one has a predisposition for or stand to inherit. People with Lupus, fibromyalgia and other immune system disorders see them go into remission with treatment for Lyme. Parkinson's, MS... the list is extensive. Anyone who wants to look into it can pm me with an email and I will be glad to send you a pdf of a summary of various research into this side of Lyme that was put out a few years ago but gives folks a good starting place.
As for the vitamin C, there's a good book about the way the adrenals run on C and how to recover from that stress. I'll find it on my bookshelf later and post the name.
