My granddaughters (twins) wanted a camera for their birthday this year so my son and daughter-in-law gave them theirs and bought themselves a new one. Their old one was a digital and worked fine but they wanted one with different features so it worked out well for both. The girls ended up with a better camera than a childs camera. You might want to consider something like that.
