What about James Matthew? I think James is a fine name - Jimmy or Jim when they're young, and then James as they get older. I love the name Christian for a boy. Chris is a great nickname too.

my husbands name is James and we call him Jim. it drives me NUTS because I love the name James but it seems that they are almost always called Jim and I personally can't stand that name. In fact, when dh and I were "set up" for our first date, I almost didn't go cuz I didn't like his name LOL now...if they had told me his name was James, I would have liked that

it's also funny that you throw the name "Rose" in there cuz I wanted Olivia Rose. Olivia after my granny and Rose after his mom, who passed away when he was 16. but he doesn't like either name. he's so stubborn! I told him that if we can't agree, I will just fill the paperwork out without him and he'll just have to learn to like it LOL
