You have to trust the shipper to make good on the deal if the item is damaged, so I never bother with insurance and just trust they will wrap the item well. We've only had one thing come in damaged. It was a fender for my motorcycle and we just bought a chrome trim piece that fortunately completely covered the damage and improved the look of the bike.
