I don't think it's creepy at all - today people are so busy at work that the don't really get out to socialize and meet people - many times the work place and the people that you encounter there end up being your dating pool.
Just go to a public place and see if you are comfortable with him.
Oh - and I think it was very naughty of you to imply that you were going to meet "our Matt" - you know that we are a bunch of matchmakers that have been trying to set up the 2 of you.
