They text messaged yesterday morning to say that they were off the ship and getting to their car. Then they texted again needing some directions. When I called back, they had found their way. They had a wonderful time. Their dive was really beautiful. They didn't talk long, and were headed home. We heard from them again when they got home. Two of Melissa's fish were sick. They were fine when I was there Saturday. I got a call from Melissa wanting to know where something was and saying that she thought the fish were dying. Later a text that they thought it was something bacterial and they had gotten something to treat the fish. Finally late last night, a text message that one of the fish had died.
These fish were at their wedding. The one that died is one Melissa has had for a couple of years. I know she's upset. She did thank me for cleaning their apartment.
Our conversations yesterday were very brief. When she called I was at a baby shower that I was helping to host.
Hopefully today we can catch up a bit. I know it's selfish and I'm feeling sorry for myself, but I don't like that her in-laws are 5 minutes away and we are 2 hours. I'm afraid that by the time we hear about the trip, it will be old news. I know they have already seen the in-laws, and probably told them all about it and they will be seeing all their friends this week.
I have a dear friend who had almost the same exact situation with her daughter when she first got married, she understands my feelings, and talking with her is helping a lot. Her daughter lived 5 minutes from her inlaws, and my friend was 2 hours away for the first 2 years of their marriage.
