EVERYTHING causes SOMETHING. If I drank sugared drinks, I'd put on 50 pounds and that would be just as bad for me as Splenda, or Saccahrin, or Aspartame, etc etc.
If you notice, the sugar industry financed the Duke study - so it benefits the sugar industry if Splenda is found to cause problems. Hmmmmm..... sounds a bit fishy!
Saccahrin causes cancer, the studies proved that years ago, but only if you drink about 50 cans of diet coke a day!!!
I don't like plain water, if I didn't have diet drinks, then I'd be drinking sugared drinks and I just can't do that.
My husband has diabetes too and he can't drink sugared drinks.
The chemical fertilizers farmers use on the food they grow is bad for us.
The aerial spraying for insects, etc, is bad for us.
She fertilizers that we use on our yards and flowers runs off into the water and is bad for us.
When wild animals poop on vegetables, it's bad for us.
I could go on and on. Yes, it is good to have these kinds of reports, but it isn't going to change what I do - at least it will take a lot more well controlled scientific studies before I consider the evidence sound enough to change my ways.
I think if you use things in moderation is OK - JMHO.
