Diana! I LOVED the message - it is sooooo very true!!! We teach a similar philosophy to our nursing students. In truth, many of the tasks nurses do, can be done by anyone with special training, e.g. give a shot or start an IV. What makes the difference is how you treat the patient with respect, look them in the eye, the gentle words you use to reassure them, the attentive way you listen to their fears, or the way you pat their hand to comfort them. It really really does make a huge difference. Sometimes the simplest of gestures (like Johnny's) are the most powerful!
I'd like to think that I am a Johnny at least some of the time!
