There was an expose on dentists a few years ago. I can't remember the group/organization who did it - but different people with known problems or known to have NO problems went to random dentists across the country and there was something like 80% of the visits recommended unnecessary procedures or charged too much or something was wrong. That's about all I can remember of the report, but I DO remember thinking that I'm not surprised at all!!! I've always thought that some dentists recommend things that aren't really necessary.
If you look at my haircut picture, you will see that my front teeth are slightly crossed - just a little bit (gives me character,

IMHO). Anyway, a few years ago I went to a new dentist and was sitting in the chair. He has taken x-rays and everything was fine, no dental work needed. Just as I was getting ready to get up out of the chair. He said, "By the way, does the appearance of your front teeth bother you?" I was so taken aback that I said, "No, do they bother you?" He said, "No, but you do know that you can have them fixed so that they are perfectly straight, don't you?" I didn't say another word, picked up my purse and walked out of his office, never to return. That memory still infuriates me!!!
Gina, I think dental implants are really nice, and they are much much better than dentures and I don't blame you at all for getting them. But I think they are really overpriced. I realize it takes skill and all, but all that money!!!
