It sure sounds to me like Max is trying to get away from Annie. I can understand because poor Reuger has Jazzi now. Sometimes I put him on the bed just so he can have a rest from her! She likes to attack when he's not expecting it!!
I'm sure that your SIL is kinda' down from losing his job. Maybe he could make a few dollars, until he finds a job, doing handy work or painting for others, like he's done for you.

He could make a few dollars from me until he finds a job!!! I pay him...not what he would get from someone else, but it is real money.
What can I tell you? You just have to let people be, and work out their own stuff in their own time, especially if they are family. I do feel for him because I understand him.
I would really like him to do this work though because it's a lot of little things that would make life much more comfortable and I would like to feel more settled in. Like, I don't have a full length mirror up, my towel hooks in the bathroom are loose, etc.
I am also looking forward to slowly add those little finishing touches, like pretty things.
