Of course, being at the lake, a basement can't be built because of the high water table. So we built a foundation on top of the ground and a 4 foot high wall on top of that for the house to sit on. This is the pony wall.
HOPEFULLY it should stay dry under there. We have inside access to the crawlspace, and my dad wanted it to be 4 feet so it's easier to get down and do things under there. We will be putting in a furnace as soon as there are gas lines hooked up out there, so we needed room for that too

As of now, there is electric heat, plus the wood stove. We will be able to comfortably spend Christmas out there now! We can spend all day out on the ski-doo, or out ice fishing, or skating, and then have a nice warm cabin to come back to!
