I would never buy cash on Farmville. From what I can tell, the key is to plow as much ground as possible and plant the most profitable crops. I take number of coins the crop will yeild subtract the cost of the seed, and divid by the number of days to mature and find out that number and compare it to other crops. Right now, the seed I have access to that is the most profitable is red peppers. That's why my entire field is planted in red peppers. They all mature at the same time so I know when I need to be on there to harvest. (If I know I'm not going to be available at the right time to harvest, I'll plant something else that matures in 3 or 4 days or whenever I can be on next.)
Also you need lots of neighbors. Right now, I can't expand my farm because I only have 11 neighbors, and I need 13 to be able to buy more land with coins. I can buy more land with FV dollars, but I don't have enough yet. I've invited everyone I can think of to be my neighbor, but have received no responses beyond my current 11.
I just keep planting and farming and harvesting as much as possible, including my trees and animals and hoarding the coins and FV dollars so I can expand and buy the things for my farm. By the way, gifts are much appreciated and I try to give more than I get.
Another way to get more coins is to visit your neighbors farms, and if they have crows or weeds, help them out. When someone gets a ribbon, and you see it on your home page, there is a link on the notice to share the prize, and if you click that, you can get coins.
Gina, I hope this helps you some, and I hope I haven't told you a lot of stuff you already new. To me, it's a fun game, though addictive. I'm advancing pretty quickly and enjoying the challenge. I just wish I knew what the harvest will be from the elephants. It had better not be ivory!!!
