I know a lot of you do this too around this time of the year. Simmer sliced orange with cinnamon sticks, and water. Or, sliced apple with cinnamon sticks with water. (smells like you baking apple pie)
Do you know other ingredients to make nice scents?

well it isn't as nice of a scent, but a great idea I think.
We found it more cost effective to have a fake tree. I paid $150 for it once and have had it for 4 years and will have it many more to come. A real tree has become harder to find, more expensive and just a pain to fight the crowds to buy. However, my husband misses the fresh pine smell. I searched for several years for a true pine tree scent. I had found alot of the fake "pine car airfreshener" smell, but a true pine was hard to find. I FINALLY found it! Last year at bath and body works. They have a true pine smell. We bought the oil. It comes in candles, oils, and air freshener fans called "wallflowers". It is a wonderful true pine smell for anyone who misses it.

That's great! We found that the mold, etc on real trees makes us ill so we use a tree sealant - you can get them from catalogs or websites that supply things for folks with allergies.

Sorry to say but yes. ![]() So if the family doesn't wanna suffer from mold they can bring in the good old fake one's. (That's as long as they don't suffer from dust allergies. ha haaa)

WOW... we learn something new everyday - ive had fake ones for years now, because the real ones drop needles so fast, and was thinking of getting a real one again this year, but changed my mind now LOL

I actually love the real trees. Luckily hubby nor I have any allergy problems. But....we usually don't buy the real Christmas tree's because they are already so dry and are afraid of any fire damage. We have an artificial one that I guess is about time to be dragged from the attic. Honestly...I think it's just easier to skip the tree all together, LOL. Just throw presents around the recliner or something and call it good. ![]() ![]()

I have the tackiest little tree that Mackenzie and I found in a bargain store a few years ago. It's a table topper size and has those lights that change it from blue to purple to white, etc. We found 2 pretty angels that also have those lights.
I line them up on a long, low table I have and it's tacky city, but I love it because Mackenzie and I picked them out together. You know what - I really think they're pretty too! I haven't put out any Christmas decorations for the past two years, but I will this year now that the children are back in my life.

Plus they can have pollen and other natural, wonderful things all over them! So sad! One year, I took the tree and moved it onto the front porch. Then I covered it with large red Christmas lights and every night the neighbors (and we) got to enjoy the tree. Friends gave us a artificial tree they'd outgrown for inside. We tried the tree sealant another year and it also helps keep the moisture in the tree so it lasts longer. Now, I would just put up holly and fir branches and spray them before bringing them in.
