Another funeral to attend :(

I have to go soon to attend my uncles funeral. He was my Dads baby brother and while I do have some memories of him from when I was much younger, I haven't seen him now in many years. He never married, moved to a neighboring state, joined a rather extreme religion, and pretty much kept to himself.
I found it weird that he was cremated and they're burying his urn next to my dad.
He had never really owned anything, but had a decent job, so is donating a rather large lump sum to his church.

I feel a bit bad that I'm going only out of obligation. I really don't have a lot of emotion one way or the other about his death. Dads family of 7 kids is now down to just the 2 sisters... slowly and steadily I am approaching the status of the oldest generation in the family.

Going to a funeral out of obligation is hard. And it's too bad that your uncle separated himself from the rest of the family. Sometimes who a person leaves everything to can be strange. You're a good niece to go to his service.

I'm sorry Tink for your Uncle's passing. Obligation or not, you are doing the right thing. I have always felt, when we do the right thing, we have no regrets.

I'm sorry about your Uncle, and like Janet says even though you feel obligated to go to the service, you are doing the right thing.
