what is up with?

clothes sizes? i got a new job the begining of this year, i went from a fork truck to a desk job and need to wear casual dress clothes so i thought i would check out some of the end of winter clerance since i will be haveing to buy sommer clothes as well, just wanted a couple more things to get me through the next couple of months. well it's not easy to find petite sizes in most stores so ive even bought from the little girls section , if i try a size 14 little girl it's to big so i try a size 12 and it's to small. same thing with the petite sizes if i try a size 4 its too big and a size 2 is to small and forget the junoir sizes i would have to be 6 ft tall to be able to fit in those and i am only 5ft. does anyone else have problems getting clothes to fit? just seems like the size charts are so out of whack these days, they are either hugh or small, and extra tall.

Oh, don't get me started..... Women's sizes have always been messed up!!! There is no consistency between manufacturers at all!!! and I know what you mean. One size is too big and the next smaller size is too small. That's why we have to shop so much for clothes, and men whose sizes are much more consistant, actually think we enjoy shopping for clothes. Personally, I don't have time to run all over town trying on all those clothes trying to find something that fits. It's frustrating. I'm sure there are lots of us here who share your pain!!

Isn't it horrible????? I have to try on everything, before I buy it. That's why I just hate shopping for clothes. And then I get so hot and my hair ends up looking horrible. I want to see what the whole total package looks like. Sometiems it's easier when I can shop with some one because they can be the one running after different sizes. I just don't want their opinion. I either like it or I don't.

Anytime you want some company Lynne, let me know....!

Try express or limited. They make all there pants in shorts. I am tall enough to wear the juniors sizes, but my sister-in-law is very short & that's where she buys all her clothes. Also try Ann Taylore petites.

I was told few years back that they are changing all the sizes to make women feel smaller...Size 7 is not a 7 any more it's a 5 so women feel thin!!!! And they vary from store to store...I think it's the same with shoes cause I was always a 9 and now I'm a 8-81/2-9....I personaly think the men in this world are trying to drive us ladies slowly crazy!!!! it's a conspiricy!!!! Don't let them get to ya, hang tough!!!!

I fully agree. I have learned to try everything on before taking it out of the store. I have tops that I wear for work that range from L to 3x! It's insane!

I also struggle because I'm top heavy and have NO hips or butt, so womens pants hang like I'm wearing a full diaper under them... and cut me in half at the waist. If I buy jeans, they have to be mens. Dress pants have to be stretch with an elastic waist. I usually wear a med dress pants. There's no way I will every be able to buy a "suit" because I can't begin to find one where the top and bottom both fit. My favorite outfit for work consists of a 3x sweater and a size med pant. Now where's the sense in that?!?

I've notice this, too about the sizes. Also, it looks like if you go into a really expensive store, which I very seldom do, the clothes may be two sizes smaller. Guess they think we won't mind spending $300 for a dress if we can tell someone we wear 2 sizes smaller than we really do.

BTW, I buy most of my dresses at a really fancy store, JC Penney's.

I haven't bought a dress in years. Oh I have a couple , but it's been quite some time that I've bought a new one. I have some older skirts too, but I just don't wear them much. To church mostly. Don't need anything fancy for bus driving....ha ha I just don't like spending the money on clothes, maybe that will change if i can continue losing weight.

They definitely do that. I'm an 8 pretty much every where, but I'm a 2 at Ann Taylor. It does make you feel good, but I know in my head I"m the same size.

well i was at JC PENNY they were haveing a nice sale 75% off the sale price and i just wanted to get 1 more pair of pants before i started buying summer clothes, well i did end up getting 2 tops for less than $8.00. i had nothing but jeans to wear for work before i got this new job and i cant wear them in the office. i am not a dress up type of person, i have my wedding outfit and funeral outfit so this is really kinda hard for me. give me a pair of jeans and a t-shirt and i am happy.
