Oh what a day!
I nearly fell on my butt on the ice going into the bank this morning. I tell you this only because it was one of the highlights of my day.
The server we connect to that controls all the financial information for the banks to function was down all day. We couldn't make payments, order checks, find account numbers or balances. We couldn't do much of what a bank is supposed to do. What we could do had to be documented on paper with a pen and signed off on in case there's a problem later because of it. We struggled all day with this, til at the very end of the day when they finally got the system working again. So then we had to race to get all the transactions registered. On top of this, the courier who picks up the proof work showed up an hour early, trying to get off the road early tonight due to the weather. So we had to rush to balance everything and deal with the re-entry of everything as well. A disgruntled customer came in threatening to pull all his accounts. (A sizeable amount!) I was powerless to do anything else for him, so we talked. He wanted to see our manager, then asked for the second in command, and told me I sure wasn't much help! He started out yelling, and left agreeing to come in tomorrow to work things out. So I have THAT to look forward to. Oh, did I mention that my manager gave us the wrong combination to the vault, so we opened 20 minutes late? No one is supposed to have a key and the whole combination, so I was to have a key and half the combo... the teller, the other half... he gave us BOTH the SAME half! I really don't know what he will find to complain about when he returns, but I know this has been a hellish experience. I'm SO glad I have only 1 week left there.

Aww, I'm sorry you had such a bad day, and a rude customer on top of that! You definitely need to take a while and relax tonight! Hope you have a better day tomorrow. Thank goodness it's Friday, right?
