Looking for the positive
I just had a phone conversation with my life-long friend Londa. She's adopted a new policy for dealing with life that she swears is working for her. She's convinced that her old way of "expect the worst so when/if it doesn't happen you'll be pleasantly surprised" was drawing negativity to her. She's now looking for the positive in life and expects that to draw in better results. At the very least, she's in a more positive frame of mind.
Do you try to find the good in bad situations? Do you think she's on to something?

When someone else is having a problem, I am very good at finding something positive about the situation...but when it comes to my own life, I'm very bad at it. I get so stressed about everything that it's hard for me to stay positive sometimes. I hope I am at least a little successful. lol. I think being positive is one of the best things you can do in life. Even though I can't often FORCE myself to stop worrying, in my mind I know that worrying about it won't change anything. If it doesn't change anything, why worry about it at all? Why not just be thankful for the things that are good or right in your life? I think it'd be much better that way.
Easier said than done, though...at least for me...

that is exactly my philosophy as well. My hubby & I disagree. He finds the positive in everything. I expect & plan for the worst. I guess that's why we work so well together.

I think I'm kind of in the middle. I don't think I'm negative although it seems like it in my posts. I'm more positive and I do have a lot of wonderful things and people in my life....like all of you for instance.
Oprah had some people on her show not too long ago talking about a book and a new way of thinking...I think the book is called 'The Secret.' It's all about drawing the positive forces to you. Another book I really need to get...

Janet, yes the book is called "the secret" I watched the show, and enjoyed it, but it wasn't new to me, I have been practising this for a long long time now.
Heres my philosify - positive energy will draw positivity - negative energy will draw negativity. I try to be grateful for things that happen in my life, coz I know they happen for a reason. Its not always easy!! When bad things happen, I look for the reason, and how I can change, or do something to change the situation. I am by no means saying, that I always succeed, but I try! I firmly believe in karma, if you do good/bad to others, it will in some way or form turn on you. What you give, is what you get. Nobody can make you happy, happiness comes from within. I try to live my life visualizing it as I want it to be, so I focus on these 5 things. 1* Relational 2* Spiritual 3* Financial 4* Physical 5* Intellectual If you look at them, they ad up to wealth, and I know wealth is not all about being rich, and having plenty money. We can be wealthy in many other forms. Without our health & happiness, we have nothing.
