The medicine from the doctor didn't help? That's the only thing that I know that helps swimmer's ear. She needs to contact her doctor again. I don't mess with earaches. It's one time we get to the doctor as fast as we can!!!!!
Your friend can prevent swimmer's ear from happening if she just puts a few drops of alcohol in her ears after swimming. The alcohol dries the water out of your ear and keeps the "what ever it is" from growing but that doesn't work after it starts hurting.

I agree with Diana, or take her to the ER. Sounds like a bad infection. I don't like infections near the brain. Even a toothache can spread up and has to be treated right away.
Poor thing! There's no reason for her to suffer like that.

That's what i keep telling her, maybe when she first went to the doctors she had swimmer's ear, now its something worse, she has to have some kind of bacteria infection, i told her to go before she can't hear anything... her one ear now she can't hear anything out of it. and she has two kids to take care of. I even told her i would watch her kids for her after work while she goes to the ER. and she wants to wait til Wednesday....

I used vinegar and alcohol. (1/2 and1/2). She poured a little of each in the cap and poured it in my ear. My son kept a bottle of alcohol on the patio and as soon as he got out of the pool (when we lived in S. FL) he poured it in.

well her doctor just gave her nose sprays, and said the fluid in her ears are almost dried up, she said yesterday one of them popped alittle, so hopefully they will be better soon, she did ask her doctor about vinegar or peroxide and her doctor said no, cause she has tubes in her ears.. Now that's something i didn' t know, she said she told me... i don't remember her telling me that, cause i told her to put peroxide in them when she's taking a shower, i do all the time when i feel an ear infection coming on cause my sinus are bad this time of year and come spring time...
