See you next week!
I'm getting up bright and early tomorrow morning to drive to Winnipeg with Kyle to visit his dad. It's going to be about a 9 hour drive But he plays hockey late tonight so I told him I'll drive the first half, because I'm okay with driving in Saskatchewan, I know where I'm going He can take the second half into Manitoba. I've never been to Winnipeg before! I haven't even unpacked from last weekend yet and tonight I'm packing again! And I'm going to burn a new cd so that I can sing at the top of my lungs while he's trying to sleep in the morning We've booked a hotel room there and we'll be staying until Monday and then getting home sometime Monday night.
I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!!

Hi Lindsay,
I know how you love to travel, especially to places you haven't been before. I hope everything goes well, that the drive is not too terrible, and that you have a great time! Be safe!

Hey everyone Glad to be back
I had a GREAT time in Winnipeg. I was a little worried at first but it was awesome. We got there on Friday night after a 7 hour drive (shorter than we anticipated!)and went out for supper with Kyle's dad. Then he took us to this amazing casino. It was huge and there was so much cool stuff there... there's this huge tunnel that is an aquarium all around with a bunch of crazy tropical fish swimming around and over you. Apparently there used to be sharks but they took those out. Then he drove us around the city a bit, but we couldn't see much because it was dark. We saw the university campus and some old buildings, and the Royal Canadian Mint where all the coins are made for Western Canada. On Saturday morning we went shopping and then had lunch at HOOTERS! I'd never been to one before so I really wanted to go! So I went to Hooters with my boyfriend and his dad lol... Then Kyle's dad was taking us on a historical walking tour (he does that as a side job, trying to start his own company for walking tours). The night before I had showed him my family history books and he was just floored. He told me I was like a famous person hahaha... my family was very involved in the history of Canada and the Hudson Bay Company. My first ancestor to Canada, and his son both surveyed the first settlements which are now part of Winnipeg, and their surveys are still in use. Anyways, during the walking tour I saw some cool stuff... the area where Fort Douglas would have been... that's where my ancestors would likely have stayed... I saw where Louis Riel was born (he became a leader for the Metis people and led uprisings and the Riel Rebellion which is also huge in Canadian history.... and one of my ancestors was good friends with Louis Riel himself ) and I also saw his grave. There was a museum right there with the rope he was actually hanged with, but unfortunately it was closed. We searched a few cemeteries to find my family, but couldn't find anything (most of the headstones were so old you couldn't read them). BUT we did drive out to this old church, built in the 1800's, where one of my ancestors had hand-carved the alter. Just as we pulled up, the caretaker just happened to be opening the doors for some other people. We got to go in and I took some pictures of the alter. It was all very very exciting and interesting to me. Kyle was ready to fall asleep but me and his dad were talking excitedly all day long! Anyways, that night after supper we went to an AHL game (American Hockey League... one step below NHL... some of the players are brought up to play in NHL because of injuries etc.) It was the Manitoba Moose vs. the Rochester Americans. It was really good hockey, and the hometown won On Sunday we met his dad's girlfriend for the first time, and Kyle was a little iffy on it but he really liked her. She was so nice! It was her birthday so it was Kyle's dad's treat for everyone... he took us for brunch in this revolving restaraunt 31 stories above ground! It was an amazing view! It took about an hour for us to go all the way around and it was just beautiful! Next we went to the zoo, and a tiger growled at Kyle. Then we went to the Imax to see this 3d show about Africa. It was so cool, it looked like you could reach out and touch the animals! We took it easy that night, just watching tv in the hotel because Kyle's dad had to work 5 games that night at the hockey rink. Then on Monday morning we met him for breakfast bright and early before he had to go to work, and then we headed home! So it wasn't exactly a relaxing holiday but I'm very glad I went! I forgot my digital camera so I don't have pictures yet... I got a disposable and I'll get a cd made at Walmart this week if I have time. Hopefully all the pictures turn out!
