weekend fun.....
Did you all have a good weekend? What did you do? Anything fun?
I vegged out Friday night, was pretty tired from a long week - with Gary in the hospital two days. He's still doing well - he is very tired, but I think he overdid it this weekend. He acts and looks much better after a 2 hour nap this afternoon. On Saturday we put in a raised garden in the back yard. We hired some people to do it for us. But Gary was up and down all day on Saturday watching and supervising. He hasn't slept well since he got out of the hospital, so with not sleeping and hassling with the contractors, it just wore him out. But YAY! I got my garden!!! It's only 4X8, but we have enough material and dirt to go 4 more feet, so the guys are going to do that this week. I didn't get my gate put in though - we are having a gate put in to the back yard on the side of the house as the new garden. The existing gate is on the other side of the yard, too inconvenient. But my silly husband came home with the wrong gate and then insisted it was the one I told him to get. It wasn't - so back it went, and I still don't have my gate. We got the correct gate today, so it should get up some time this week. I cooked a lot yesterday. I've been trying to eat better (and lose weight) so I cooked things to eat for lunch the rest of the week. I was supposed to go to a local yorkie meetup on Sat. but ended up having to stay home and run errands for Gary and the contractors. They have monthly meet ups, so hopefully, I'll get to the one next month. Today daughter, sil, g-daughters, mom, Gary and I went out to eat at a nice restaurant. I had sushi - love it!!! My daughter ate some too and she really liked it too. YAY! I have someone who will eat sushi with me!!! Hubby turns up his nose and says, eeeewwww!!! My women's basketball team played at Iowa State today - a REALLY hard place to get a win and THEY WON!!! YAY again!!! Now, I'm veging out again, resting up for another week at school - hopefully, not as eventful as last week!!!!!!

glad to hear your hubby is feeling better.
I can't believe you have a garden out already, it snowed here today (just flurries). I think i would like to have a small one again this year, it's been a few years since we had one. you always seem to have such busy weekends i really don't know where you get your energy from, by the time Friday gets here i am wiped out and would just really likw to stay home all weekend. I could really learn to be a homebody. I agree with your hubby...... eeewww!!!!! sushi!!! Janet and i had chines today yummy!!!

Sounds like you had a busy weekend! I've been trying to convince Mike that he needs a square foot garden, but so far he doesn't agree, lol! I hope Gary gets his strength back soon..it's so easy to over do.
Mike and I went to the big city of Ferris, TX to visit our oldest son, dil, and 2 grandsons. They just moved there a couple of weeks ago. They did live only 30 minutes from us, and now it's 2 1/2 hours. But I'm not complaining, because by the end of this year they will be moving to Scotland to be do mission work They are also expecting another baby in Sept. I sure hate to see them go..we are all very close. Anyway.... We went to the Dallas Zoo on Friday..Saturday we went to eat at Pappadeaux (Mike's favorite place) then rode over to see the new Cowboy stadium. I can't believe how huge that place is! Sunday we went to church with them, had a quick lunch and drove home. I'm thinking seriously about a shower, bed and a good book

On Friday night after work, Scott and I headed out of town to visit some friends of mine (she was house-sitting at her parents' farm). It was the first time he met them and I was nervous but everything went really well! We played Wii for awhile and then spent 6 HOURS in the hot tub But it was a really good time. They both told me (when Scott went inside to get drinks) that I made a really good choice and he's a keeper Jen said she's so happy to see me be so happy.
Anyways, we got back inside just before 7 am, and Tyler went to bed and I fell asleep on Scott's chest on the couch, and when I woke up it was 7:45 and Scott and Jen had been awake talking the whole time. I had to go to bed, and he stayed up with her until 8 because somebody was going to come over to fix the furnace. They had just met that night and the fact that they were able to spend so much time just talking really meant a lot to me He can really just get along well with anyone! Yesterday we were very lazy and didn't leave the farm until 4:00 (right after breakfast lol). We decided that instead of going out to eat, we'd just make supper together and sit in front of the fireplace all night on the couch. It was 100 times better than going out We both fell asleep in each others arms in front of the fire and it was just perfect. Anyways, this morning he left for another snowboarding trip. He's in Montana now But before he left I was half asleep in bed and he was hugging Layla and saying goodbye to her and telling her to be good for me It just totally melted my heart! Today I was very lazy. I took Layla to Petsmart so she could pee in the aisle and I did some dishes and that's about it. It's a long weekend here (Family Day tomorrow) so I'm going to do the rest of my housework tomorrow

Lindsay, it sounds like you had a great weekend! I'm so glad that you are happy and having a good time! Lynne, we don't have anything planted yet, although these are the plants that is recommended to be planted now: Artichoke and asparagus crowns, Asian greens, broccoli, cabbage, chard, collards, lettuce, mustard greens, onion sets, and spinach. Also, all hardy perennial herbs, such as chives, oregano, and thyme; and cool-season annuals or biennials such as dill, fennel, and parsley can be planted. I'm going to plant some asparagus (but not in the bed) and some oregano and I'll do that as soon as the extension is finished. Right now the extra dirt is all mounded up in the 4X8 bed and I can't plant till I get it in the new 4X4 addition.

Lynne and I were going to go to the dog show in Indy on Saturday, but when we got up, it had snowed and we were both leery of driving that far on slick roads. Turned out they weren't really bad and we could have made it just fine. We ended up going on Sunday and it was really nice. So many beautiful dogs, especially the Yorkies...lol. I bought the doggies one of those 'Hide-a-squirrels' and they love it. I also bought a coin purse with a Yorkie on it and Lynne brought me the cutest little Yorkie salt and pepper shakers.
We ate at a Chinese restaurant on our way home and it was so good! I kept wanting to stall...just wasn't ready to go home yet, so we stopped at a Target store. I had such a great day and it was so nice being with Lynne again. We hadn't seen each other since before Christmas....I really missed her.

It sounds like everyone had a nice weekend!! We had a Valentine's banquet at church on Friday night. It was really nice. The food is always good, they play games, and have romantic music, the cost was only $10, and it's always decorated beautifully.
We went out to eat at a local restaurant on Saturday night since it was Valentine's day and had crab legs with coconut shrimp for two. The coconut shrimp was wonderful but we decided that the crab wasn't that good. It had sit in water way too long and didn't "crack out" right so we had to dig every piece out. We drove around town for a while like we used to when we dated. Believe me, it wasn't the same!!!! Then we came home and rented "Nights in Rodantha". It was good but not necessarily the greatest. Sunday was the first Sunday with our new pastor. We had a lot of extra people there and after I taught Sunday School I ended up helping in our little kids children church because the woman in there had too many kids to handle on her own. We had a soup dinner after church with a cookie sale then I came home and got my Sunday nap!!! LOL We went back to church for the evening service and I finally got to hear the new pastor preach. I really like our new pastor and his wife. I'm excited about them being here!!

I took a vacation day last Friday to spend the day with Sarah (my son's 17 month old) who had been with Laura (my oldest daughter) all week. We had kids and a few people over on Saturday for boiled crawfish (for Harold's 60th birthday). I kicked back yesterday and got all my doggies cleaned and loved up.
Harold's been sick, so we still don't have the garden fence back up. Monday came too soon!
