Please I Have A Question????
OK i went and got a tooth pulled yesterday because my son hit my in the jaw with his head and it broke it well i have a really bad fear of the dentist because of bad experiences. So anyway i went in and it took him an hour just to get the tooth out he was pulling so hard he was moving my other teeth forward it was killing me then he was using this tool to pull it out and he was pulling and all the sudden SNAP went my tooth he looked at the nurse and she quickly went to the hall and they were kinda whispering and mouthing something she was gone for a few min then she came back and handed some stuff to him. I asked him is it out? And he told me the top is i just got to get the roots so i didn't think anything of it well then he started digging again and i could feel stuff being chipped away later i found out he removed some of my jaw bone. After it was all over he gave me a prescription for percocet and i went home. Well about and hour and a half later i was able to get my meds but by that time i was dying in pain also he said the bleeding would stop within an hour and it should be pretty much done in 20 min well i was bleeding so bad i had to change the gauze every 20 min and when i took it out it was gushing so i called and they told me it was normal i didn't stop bleeding for over 3 hours and then it died down a little well i just thought that i would be better in the morning but i will tell you all i am in so much pain i don't know what to do i can't even open my mouth because it hurts so bad i tried to eat a yogurt and i can barley get a spoon in my mouth. My gums are swollen almost up to my front two teeth and my cheek is really swollen and sore to i literally can barely open it up. So i was wondering does this sound normal to all of you? Do you have any suggestions?

My only suggestion is don't pay!! He owes you what ever he charged and more for your pain and suffering.

Do you have any safe pain medication you can take? I'd be calling either that denist back or your personal doctor and see if they can give you something for the pain. You shouldn't have to suffer that way.

Hey Amber!
I was so hoping I'd get on and see that you were feeling a little bit better today but unfortunately, that's not the case I saw your post on YT and now here. I don't have a dentist background so I don't know if what I'm going to tell you is right but.....I did have 4 wisdom teeth cut/pulled many, many years ago and this is what I did: 1) As I told you last night (and someone on YT as well) NO STRAW!!! Either sip from the cup or use a spoon to drink your juice (or your drink of choice). 2) Rinse your mouth with warm salt water 3-4 times a day - this will help with the healing. 3) If your jaw is swollen (and it sounds like it is), put some crushed ice in a ziplock bag, wrap it in a cloth, and gently place it on your jaw. 4) As for your pain meds - I can tell you this (yes, I do have a medical background but when Sam was almost killed last year thanks to Hurricane Rita - that's another story - his doctors gave this advice) - there is a 30 MINUTE window to take your meds, you can push it to 45 if in severe pain. That means if the directions say take one every 4 hours, you can actually take it 3 1/2 hours later. Can you take 2 percocets at once? If it doesn't say, call the pharmacist where you got it filled and ask if it would hurt you to take 2 at once - then only 1 pill 3 1/2 - 4 hours later. Also, take tylenol in between - this won't hurt you!! 5) Only liquids for several days - chicken broth (you can eat the noodles as they will slide down your throat - kinda like a raw oyster - sorry, didn't mean to make ya laugh). Jello, milk shakes (use that spoon!!) - main thing is you need to keep something on your stomach, especially taking pain pills!! 6) If you are still in pain by tomorrow or Friday morning - call another dentist!! Explain to them what happened and how you're feeling. If another agrees to see you, they can take x-rays to see if any bone is missing from your jaw. If it is, and I'm not a "sue happy kinda person", but - I first get the "bad" dentist to refund the $48 - if he's worth anything more than a "d@mn", for his reputations sake - which is shot with you - he will do the right thing and refund you that money. If not and you find that he caused more damage than good (i.e. more loose teeth, damage to the jaw, etc.), ya might want to contact an attorney if it's gonna end up costing you a LOT of money to fix what he screwed up. Whew! I guess that's all the advice I can give - and I didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn last night...LOL!!!! Oops, there I go again - bad Suzi - making Amber laugh! Anyway, I sure hope you are feeling better sooner versus later! I'll check on you later |
