The dentist...
I don't remember if I posted about this, but I am really upset about what is going on with NYU Dental College where I am having my teeth done!
Long story short....a year and 1/2 ago, one of my implants broke. They designed a whole new plan for my bottom teeth. I'm still waiting for my permanent top teeth. (I'm not walking around toothless - I have temps). The dentist in charge of my case told the dentist not to charge me for the bottom work at all. I paid for the top work in 2005. This year, they have a new office manager, and I guess she questioned my contract. He now told my dentist to charge me, and when I spoke to him, he mentioned a $10,000 charge!!!! I'm waiting for him to speak with the head dentist next week, and then will probably have to go down and speak with him myself. I am NOT having all of the work they planned done. I only need 5 teeth done on the bottom, and the top permanent teeth. He said something about $800/crown, which would make it $4000. I will try to talk them down as much as possible. I want the work done as quickly as possible, and then I am done and will never go back there again. This has been going on since 1997, has cost me thousands of dollars, and I have had enough! I just want to finish up. I hate to finish up on a bad note, but I surely am. If he had not told me it was free of charge to begin with, I would have had to pay something and deal with it, but to reneg on that is just amazing to me. There is nothing I can do about it either, since I did not get it in writing. You live, you learn!!!

I'm sorry your going through a hard time but it happens. One time I went in for a small surgical procedure and had to go for another round and they told me I wasn't going to pay anymore. I did have it in writting and they came out saying the funds where no longer there. They always have an excuse to empty your pockets. Wish you the best of luck.

Oh no Judy! Would it be possible for you to find a new dentist that might finish it up cheaper? If you explain your situation maybe you could find someone willing to give you a deal on them for you to give them business?

That just plain sucks Judy! They really need to honor what was told to you. I can't imagine having dental work done since 1997 and still not done. In my fantasy world.....I'm smacking them up side the head for ya!

Judy, that just sucks! I think it is outrageous what dentists charge anyway. It makes me so mad every time I have to pay a big charge for dental work. We are so lucky that Gary can get his dental work done at the VA for free.
I'm sorry that you are having to go through this!

That's awful!!! You need to remind the dentist of what he said.......and ask him if his word is good. If not then he lied to you!!! New manager or not he needs to keep his word whether it was in writing or NOT!!!! I think that I'd be having a serious talk with SOMEONE in that office!!!!!!!
