From Bad to Worse......

Things have NOT gone well with Dae Lynn and Damon this week. They have fought more than I knew about.......the trust just isn't there. Then on Tuesday Damon announced that he had to go and stay at his Mom and Dad's house so he could go hunting......so Dae Lynn ran him over and came back home. She got a call on Wednesday morning from Damon's Mom and she had found prescription drugs that Damon had been taking and by counting them could tell that he wasn't taking them correctly. Come to find out....he had hidden the prescription from Dae Lynn.....Oh, and they are a narcotic drug. Dae Lynn talked to Damon and he denied taking anything but changed his tune later when he realized that his Mom had talked to Dae Lynn.

Then last night Dae Lynn got a call from Damon's Mom and he had gotten drunk (by stealing their pickup and driving to town)......then they had some kind of incident (not sure exactly what went on) so they called the ambulance to take Damon to the hospital. They decided that Damon's arm wasn't hurt which was something that was first thought. The doctor said that Damon was asking what kind of meds he was going to be given and realized that he was having problems such as post tramatic stress syndrome and was saying what ever he thought sounded good. Glen and Dae Lynn had driven over and came home later and Damon went to his Mother's home.....I had the kids.

Today Dae Lynn is planning on packing their clothes and moving in. She's tired of everything that's going on. He's been treating her awful. He talks about getting help just enough that she comes back but isn't really doing anything about it. It's been really hard on her, us, and the kids.

One good thing........in talking to Damon's Mom she found out that they will do anything to keep Karlie from living with her real mom and she told Dae Lynn that they would like for Karlie to stay with her. Damon won't be in any shape to keep the kids and his ex-wife...Karlie's mom isn't in any better shape. We are thrilled with that and hope that she stands by what she says......we know that Karlie's better off with us too.

I am so sorry your family is going through all this Diana. I think Dae Lynn is smart for packing up and leaving for now. Until he checks himself into a rehab facility to get the help he really needs, nothing will do any good. I hope she realizes it's not her fault and not her failure, and he needs more help than she can give. He needs to realize that too. He will lose his family if he doesn't change. I don't think that has gotten through his head, or the addiction is clouding it. Stay strong for them. I will be praying for you all.

Oh Diana I'm sorry to hear Dae Lynn is in that type of situation. I have been there myself and as much as you want to help the other half the kids are more important.
Hope that straighten him out.

Diana, as I'm sure you know, Damon may have to hit rock bottom with no one to help him or rescue him, before he comes to terms with his problems. He should be able to get the help he needs, maybe even from the VA, since he has PTSD from his time in the service. I know they have an excellent treatment facility for PTSD at the Waco, TX VA - but I'm sure there is help closer to Kansas.

My cousin had to stop rescuing both of her children (drug problems) and they both ended up in prison - but have been out now several years and both are doing very well now.

I'm so sorry that you are having to deal with all of this, you and Glen are such good people! Dae Lynn, Karlie, and Dean are so lucky to have you.

Thanks so much everyone. Dae Lynn has a load of stuff to bring in today but I'm still cleaning out a bedroom and closet so they'll have room for their clothes and for the kids to play without all of my "stuff" around.

Damon is coming home this morning sometime.....his Mother's bringing him. Karlie has been wanting to see her Dad ever since he went to the hospital.....I think that she just wants to make sure that he's alright. Dae Lynn's planning on taking the kids over later today.

Hopefully he'll still have his job so he's not home alone with nothing to do. Meetings with people who care and will council him are being set up and hopefully he'll stick with them and find help.

I'm not sure if he can go to the VA because I'm not sure that he had an honorable discharge. I'll have to check on that because there's a hospital at Wichita.

We're just taking things a day at a time to see what goes on. I really think that he's crying out for help......we just don't know what to do. It's really hard to think of the consequences if he doesn't get help and is on his own. I DO know that God is good and He is the answer so please continue to keep us in your prayers. I love all of you for your support!!!!

Oh goodness Diana! How difficult this must be for all of you. It is really wonderful though that you get Karlie! DaeLynn, Dean and Karlie will need you and Glen now.

Damon has pulled through before. I will pray for all of you, and pray that he finds the strength to do what he has to do. My heart goes out to all of you. Damon does not have it easy! My SIL sometimes will start drinking, and Jess and I (and the kids) worry, but so far, he stops himself. It is a hard life for the person who is addicted, and so hard for the people who love him!

I know she wants it to work and I truly hope it does. She is lucky to have you and Glen to catch her the next time...... - but I am being pessimistic. It can work out, I hope it will. It is so hard with addictions. Does she attend Al Anon? She should.

Al Anon is a wonderful organization Diana. I went for a couple of years when Jess wasn't talking to me. It really changed my life a lot! I went to meetings in a different neighborhood because people talk. It would be good for DaeLynn.

It would be wonderful if Daemon would go to AA. It is so hard to get someone to go unless they want to.

Judy, Damon has gone before and from what I've heard it's not moderated very well so he's not wanting to go that route.

The only one that can help him is himself and I hope they both know that. I hope they find a solution
