Holiday Recipe

With Thanksgiving fast approaching, I wanted to share the best dressing recipe I've ever had. My husband loved it so much he likes it as a meal anytime: One tip is don't lift the lid once you start the crock pot, (not sure why).

CROCK POT DRESSING
1 cup butter or oleo
1 cup chopped onions
2- 8 oz. cans mushrooms (drained)
1 20 oz. loaf of bread (cubed)
2 eggs well beaten
1 cup chopped celery (optional)
1 can cream of mushroom soup
2 1/2 cups chicken broth
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. sage
1/2 cup parsley
5 to 8 cups chicken (cubed)

Thin mushroom soup with broth. Heat mushroom soup, broth and butter until butter is melted. Mix all ingredients together and let stand for ten minutes. Put in crock pot and cook on high for 45 minutes, then on low for 3 to 4 hours.

* Instead of 1 cup of butter I use 1/2 cup of butter and 1/2 cup more broth.

There were always a hit at Thanksgiving. It's my husband's grandmother's recipe. It's REALLY rich and I recommend big glass of milk with it!

Buttermilk Pie
Yields 2 pies

1/2 cup flour
3 3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup buttermilk
6 eggs
1 cup butter
1 tsp vanilla

Melt butter and mix with eggs, flour, sugar and salt.

Add buttermilk and vanilla.

Pour into 2 pie crust. Place pie pans on cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 45 minutes. (When top of pie has some fine cracks, it's done).

Remove from oven and let set.

Here's another one!

Some people add walnuts to this recipe and some add sunflower kernals. I do not do either.

Broccoli Salad

1 head broccoli cut to small pieces
1 small bunch green onions. Remove head and slice thinly
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 lb bacon fried crispy. Drain grease and place on paper towel to soak up excess.

Dressing:

1 cup Miracle Whip
1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp vinegar

Mix all ingredients of dressing and toss into salad. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Talk about a big glass of milk Kimberly try this one! My son and I eat this for breakfast, lunch, supper, evening snack and forget normal food, that's why I only make this at Christmas.

Eclair Cake

1 box of honey graham crackers
1 large box vanilla instant pudding mix
1 large container of Cool Whip
1 can milk choc icing

Mix pudding by directions on box
Add container of Cool Whip

In a large oblong cake pan, put down a layer of graham crackers, then the Cool Whip/pudding mixture, and keep layering until the mixture is used up. Then top with graham crackers and then put the icing on top.

This is very rich also, but this stuff is better than sex anytime!!!!

My last one is Corn Flake Cookies:

1 cup white Karo syrup
1 cup white sugar

let come to a boil and turn off heat
add
1 teaspoon vanilla
6 cups corn flakes

spoon onto wax paper and eat when cool YUMMY, YUMMY, YUMMY
