Meditation - Do You Do It??

I've been really trying to learn to "meditate" for quite sometime now. Except I can only get so far into it. As I get into more of a relaxed state then begin to feel each beat my heart does I begin to panic. LOL - It's almost like I feel as if I am having a panic attack.

So...I then start over and get to that same place again and BAM...Too much heart beat.

It's driving me insane. Id truly love to meditate and get past the "heart beat" stage and become to the place where your mind is "way out there", be relaxed, and in tune with all the good feelings one is to have while meditating.

So...how many of you meditate?

I do meditate, though i have to admit, lately ive been neglecting myself, and need to get into the swing of things again.
The "heart beat" stage you reach, and than pull back, is where you start touching/reaching emotions, it can be scary, but as i told you, i will type out a mail to you with easy to do tips.

Awww thanks Mandy! I think I am going to try it more often when I go down to the horse barn. Nobody is there except well Wildflower my horse. It's quiet and very relaxing. I think I might be able to reach the full extent of the mediating session there and not here in the house where I can't "tune it all out".

I will have to bring a more comfy thing to sit on though. Right now in the barn I just sit on this concret block. OUCH. Then i again...I've got tons of soft hay I could plop down at. Much more cush on that tush!!

Do you have a cd with bird sounds or running water? I'ts easy to concentrate on that when you first start, or if you have problems getting into it, it helps you to "drift off"

No cd's with that stuff. However, our alarm clock has like 4-5 different "nature sounds". One is a lightening storm, another the ocean, one is birds like you mentioned, the others I can't recall right now.

Maybe tonight when I go to bed i will turn on the "sounds" and see if that helps. Thanks for the tip!!
