I use to get those quite a bit, but I haven't had one in years. I always used the over the counter cremes and they worked real well. And this will be a little more personal, but I always make sure I don't reach too far back when I wiped (I read that can cause flare ups). Also a good douche helps. I've used the over the counter and they've worked good also. Another thing, is be sure your toilet paper does not have all that paper dust. I'm just really conscious of these things now, and I think I haven't had any more problems because of this.

Try to stay away from too much bread because I heard that can contribute. I also heard that douches are bad for you (my gyno told me that) and I have also heard that women prone to these infections should not wear thongs too much because that can cause infections. My best friend was constantly getting these but she had an IUD and had to have it removed because her doc said that was what was causing all of those infections.

my gyno told me that to help with the itching and burning while waiting for the diflucan to work to stick a tampon in PLAIN yogurt and use it like when you have your period...the (?) acidolpholus (sp?) in the yogurt is supposed to fight with the yeast infection. i am allergic to monistat and over the counter meds so diflucan is the only way to go for me...i've had to take multiple doses too....girl sometimes it itched so bad i felt like sticking a damn scrubby brush up there just to make the itch go away good luck!!!

That would do it! You need to stop taking baths all together. ANY soap in bath while washing will come in contact with the "toot" and can cause it. If you are as sensitive as I am taking showers will make a world of difference. I don't even let my 9 year old take a bath that often. Once in a blue moon. We are SOOOO much alilke that I worry all the bubble bath and so on will cause her to get an infection. Good luck. michelle |

I've heard of people using plain yogurt and garlic cloves... I've never had one myself so I don't know what works. You can find a lot of information on this site. I used to get UTI's ALL the time, and I read on that site to drink cranberry juice, or take cranberry pills. I haven't had one UTI since I started taking cranberry pills! So I trust their information.
