Be careful with online forms

On the weekend I was going to sign up for Bluemountain.com but decided against it. I had started to fill out the form with my name and email address, but then I saw they wanted my phone number and home address and even though I believe it's a secure site, I didn't want to give that information out so I just navigated away from the page without submitting my information. Not long after, I get an email from Bluemountain with the subject line "Please finish your Bluemountain.com order" when I opened it, it read "Dear Customer,
Just when we thought you were going to become a member, you didn't. Maybe you got a phone call? Had to run to a very important meeting? Whatever distracted you from the task at hand, now's your chance to take the ball and run with it. "
That worried me. I just typed my email address in, and didn't hit submit at all, and they had my information. I didn't know they could do that.

I knew sites could do that but I am surprised that Blue Mountain Arts has that happening. You might want to report it to the owners. Have you read their book? Blue Mountain: Turning Dreams in Reality by Susan Polis Schutz? If you aren't comfortable writing to them, I would be glad to do so. Just let me know.

Hmmm... yes we have to watch out what sort of info we give out online, but it would be nice to know you can trust the well known ones.

It is really scary what they can find out. It's good to be cautious, that inner voice is usually right.

No, I haven't read the book and I didn't even know there was one! It sounds interesting.
Reporting to the owners is a good idea. I don't think I'll have much computer time until maybe next week, so if you'd like to, you're more than welcome!

Good for you - go with your gut. I've done that a few times, but have never heard from them.

The problem is that all kinds of info is available for free or a small fee. There's a site intellus that gives you way more info than should be available.

I think in this day and age, unless you have anything to hide, or a lot of money, don't worry about it. If anybody wants to steal your identity, they're going to, no matter what.

I don't mean to sound like "who cares," but it is what it is.
