Computers...Grrrrr!!
I may have to take my computer in to be looked at. It takes forever to shutdown and to come back up. Honestly a good 5-7 minutes at least. Plus every once in awhile a box comes up and says that I'm out of virtual memory and that windows is making some or something like that.
Then there are times that I can hear the computer running and the curser will lock up for awhile...I think it's the webroot program I have for spyware, but not sure. I've heard that every so often a person should completely reformat their computer...is that true? If I did that, I would have to do all the patches for Windows XP again, plus others that right now just can't remember. It might just be easier to let someone else do it and pay to have it done...I just don't know what the problems are. It still runs and all and isnt' slow, only at start up and shut down. I hope when I decide to take it in, that they won't have to keep it very long. That would totally suck being without my computer!

Have you gone in and deleted your temporary internet files and your cookies? That usually will speed it up. Games and pics take up a lot of memory too. I've never heard of reformatting every once in a while. I don't think you should have to do that.

My computer doesn't run slow at all. Just starting up and shutting it down. I remember when it didn't take near this long. About the cookies...they are deleted every 3 days.

Over time things get added on to your computer, without your knowledge, and they start up when you turn your computer on too. They probably need to be deleted. I don't know how to do it but probably taking it to someone knowledgeable would be a good idea. Also, reformatting will help your computer to run better for awhile too.

Janet, If they are looking at it, ask them to add more Ram. It should cost alot and that should stop the virtal memory problems.
