Not a happy birthday at all so far
So my dog, Layla, has been not well lately. I don't know what's wrong. She has rashes and sneezes and isn't breathing right. I took her in for the rashes last week and she got pills but it didn't help. I made an appointment for today at 2:15. It takes me 15 minutes to get home at the most, and 15 minutes to get from home to the vet. I left work at 1:45 and there was a train across the most busy street in the city. It took 10 minutes to cross. I got home at 2:10 and called and they said I could reschedule for 4:15... there was a surgery at 2:30.
So I went right back to work, missing an hour for nothing. I finished this drawing I had been working on all day for another engineer (who took the day off). I took the drawing to my boss and he said everything was wrong and wanted a million more things and looked at me like I was stupid when I didn't know stuff about laying out pipes. When I asked something he would snap back at me. And maybe it was my pms, or the stress that's been buliding up, but I started to tear up and I had to block out what he was saying. I kept looking at my watch and he kept looking annoyed. It was 3:50 and I said "I'm sorry, I have an appointment at 4:15 I need to get to" as I started gathering my papers and he said "Now just hold on I need to see what you did here" and I said "I'm going to be late, I'm sorry" and he just kept talking and went through a couple more things and then let me go. I got to my computer and the other drafter said "You better hurry!" I looked at the clock at it was 4:00. I was shutting stuff down as fast as I could and I called the vet, saying I was running a little late and could I get in at 4:30, and she said no. No more openings. I got an appointment at 3 tomorrow with a different vet. And then I sat down, and the tears overflowed. And I tried to stop them and be really quiet because I share the room with a guy. Eventually I just said I'm going home. I got home, and Layla is usually energetic and she's just laying on my bed. She didn't greet me at all, didn't even wag her tail. She's just laying there. I feel terrible for her. I can't beleive I missed two appointments. When I told Kyle how upset I was about missing them, he just said "So I assume you won't go for supper now if you have to take your dog to the vet again" and it just really bothered me how he said that. Now I'm at home and I'm still crying, and I somehow have to get into a happy party mood tonight. I think this is the worst birthday I've had so far.

Lindsey, I'm sorry things aren't working out as you had hoped. Sounds like you're feeling like I did on Mother's Day. It will get better, but you already know that. Please make sure Layla is okay before you leave this evening. Have a good time.

Thanks Janet. A few people are over at my house right now and Layla is acting completely better other than the sneezing. I don't know what was up with her earlier. She's being very energetic and she met me at the door when I came home from my supper with Kyle.

You may have to have her checked out for allergies. Hopefully the Vet will get Layla feeling even better.

I am glad that Layla is feeling better, have her checked anyway. I hope that you had a nice dinner and enjoyed the rest of your birthday.
