Got Hubby to Build a Fire!!!
It's 52 deg outside and supposed to get down to 46 tonight. I got hubby to start a fire in the fireplace. I know it's barely cold enough and had to turn to AC off, but I just couldn't wait. Yaaaaaa!!!

A fire will be nice to sit in front of. I just love the atmosphere that you get when you have a fire. We had one planned for our home when we built it but I realized that having one was going to make it hard to place my furniture. I wish that I would have gotten one, but I don't know where I would put it. Enjoy your fire!!!! It sounds so comfy!!

We have a fireplace that we never used, so when we built on to the back of the house - we can't use it anymore. I like fireplaces, but didn't like to mess with them and really never found it cold enough. I'd have to open up the house if I started a fire. So, we just have lighted logs in there now. Nice ambiance, but no mess. We could have gas logs, but again, we just don't need the extra heat very often.
I do really like to sit in front of the fire though, just don't like to mess with it!

We're really enjoying it this evening. We had gas logs at our last house, but when we lit it, I felt like we were burning gas for nothing, that it wasn't a real fire, so this time we put in a log burning fireplace with a gas lighter. I don't mind removing the ashes. It's worth it to have a real fire. The fireplace is white and cream stone and is in the corner of the living room. It doesn't affect the placement of our furniture at all. One wall on one side of the fireplace is all built-in bookcases and entertainment center. The wall on the other side is windows with stained glass windows above them. It doesn't put out enough heat to need to open windows or anything. We don't need a big roaring fire, just a nice even flame licking the logs. It's just the right size and we have a nice hearth just a couple of inches above the floor. I have a ceramic rooster on one side and our cattle brand on the other. We use the cattle brand as a fireplace tool to push logs around.
We're burning our last two logs though. We need to buy some wood. We won't use it very many times each winter, just when we get the hankerin' for a fire, like I did tonight. I'm off tomorrow!!! Took one of my last two vacation days. So nice to be home for a few days!!! I think I'll take the other one on Christmas Eve. Depends on when our girls can be here.
