Too Cold.......
We've had an artic cold front come through and brrrrrrrr is it cold!!!!! It's like 10* but the wind is blowing pretty good so we have a wind chill temperature of about -15*!!!! Glen decided to stay home today and I think that he's going to clean out our walk-in closet so that means that it's NOT going to be a fun day!!!!
School was canceled because of the cold so Jaci is home too!!! I always love having her home!!! Hmmmm.....maybe she can help her Dad clean out our closet!!!!................................hmmm.... ..never mind......she likes to throw things out!! I guess that I'm going to have to help.......Bummer!!!!! Oh, and we got some more snow last night.....not much but enough to blow around!!! I have pictures of the snow that I need to get on. It's still pretty!!!

Hi Diana
Things are pretty tough for us here in UK too, we have had thick snow and ice since Monday evening, i have been forced to stay home from work for 3 days, i am out on the road viewing property and attending meetings so i took the decision not to go in. I am not taking unneccesary risks, work have been understanding, but if i had attended they would have let me continue - one thing i have learnt is you dont get any better thought of for being a hero. Thing is though i still feel a bit guilty They gave everyone the Tuesday off, but Wed and Thurs have to be taken as holidays - i understand this totally. I just love the snow, it still looks so pretty, but the icy roads are a real danger. I know you love the snow too. Our schools are closed too, and lots of services are working to emergencies only.

It was not fun driving the bus today. It was snowing so hard and fast that I couldn't even see the edge of the road. Don't understand why they wanted to have school...they called this morning and said they were dismissing at 12:30 because of the snow. Well....duh...
Now it's blowing really good and causing drifts. I wanted to go to the hospital today or tonight, but the roads are just too bad. It takes Ricky about 45 minutes to get to school so I was worried about him. He made it to school just fine, but is staying overnight with a buddy tonight just 5 minutes from school. Hopefully the roads will be better tomorrow for him to come home and hopefully I can get to the hospital. At least I can talk to her on the phone.

I was afraid, Janet, that you wouldn't be able to go to the hospital. I could tell that you were having snow. Too bad that the school didn't dismiss before you had to get out and run the route. A lot of schools are canceling tomorrow. I keep hearing about them on the radio but ours won't make that decision until early tomorrow morning. It's soooo cold outside. The dogs aren't staying out very long at all!!!
Diane, it sounds like you're really having bad weather over there too. It was news here on the internet about the cold weather you're having. It's too bad that you have to lose vacation to stay home. That's a real bummer. Sometimes you just have to do what's right for you. We got a call from a woman that's sorta' a friend (mostly when she's having problems) and her boyfriend got stuck in the snow and Glen's going out to pull him out of the snow. He's not too happy about it. She's a woman that her life is full of drama that she causes herself. She's a real test for us!

It's cold here too. We have gotten about an inch or so of snow today and expecting more tomorrow. School has been closed here all week due to the weather. Well girls all I can say is if you have to go out......be very careful! And if you don't have to go out then don't!! Stay warm

We are in the deep freeze to (for us) - we've had temps around 30-32 with a fierce wind so the wind chills have been bad.
Of course, it is not nearly as bad as you guys up north, but it is bad for us because we rarely have this kind of weather and most people are just not prepared. In fact, my granddaughter has my down jacket - and my regular coat is unlined I resorted to wearing a down-like sports jacket to work today. We will get a really hard freeze tonight, and we rarely get below freezing, so there will be lots of broken pipes, as people just are not used to or prepared for this kind of weather. I wrapped out ourdoor faucets, but I saw that my neighbors did not, so I wrapped them. I hope they don't mind.

Oh my goodness, this winter is the coldest it has been in Maryland in a loooong time. We actually got a pretty decent storm and a couple inches here and there on separate occasions. Usually we just get the occasional flurries.
The weather has been beautiful the last couple days though (save yesterdays rainy mess) me and the dogs have been enjoying it. |
