My mom again!!
I am sure you all remember what we went through with my mom and the nurseing home and everything.
Well she was diagnosed about 6yrs ago with a disease called Sarcoidosis, which has to due with the immune system, well it has effected different parts of her body, mainly her eyes, she has been blind in 1 eye since a little girl so she has always been cautious with her good eye, well with everything that has happened to her we let a year and a half go by without going to her specialist, we went today and it was not good news, her good eye is as bad if not worse then it was when she first went to him, he was not happy, he had worked so hard to stablize the disease in her eye and was happy with her outcome the last time he had seen her that we could go 6 months in between visits. So now we are back at square one and he's not so sure he can get her back to where she was, also he mentioned maybe having to do lazer surgery, but we did not get into that till we see how far he can turn this around. She is back on a high dose of Perdnisone 60mg and will tapper down if there is progress, she has been on prednisone since she first went to him and he got her to a point that he was happy with, she will have to be on it for life, and i am sure you all know what a steroid does to your body. So we go back in 2 weeks. I feel so bad that i did not get her back to see him sooner, I had taken her to an eye Dr for new glasses and she could barely get through that, she has been doing so good these past few months except not being able to see well, she has floaters on her eye and it's just hard for her to see, along with all kinds of other debrie (sp) in her eye. So thats where we are at now, I know it could be worse, but she is terrifed of going blind. Thanks for letting me ramble, i'm feeling alot of guilt for not getting her there sooner.

I'm really sorry about your mom. Try not to blame yourself. We all do the best we can at the time. I hope the steroids help her. I'll keep her in my prayers!

Lynne....you have been helping your Mom so much in so many other ways. We're human...we can't remember everything all the time. I remember how concerned you were about getting her meds straightened around and it was almost a full-time job doing that for you.
Hopefully the Dr. can get her back to what he is happy with and she won't lose anymore of her sight. You know where I'm at if ya need to talk.

It is so hard Lynne! I am sure you were busy doing other things to take care of her that were priorities at the time. You will get her through this. I hope the doctor can safe her eyesight. I have had lasik and it is not at all painful, just the thought of it is scary. It takes a second, and it is over. They can give her valium to calm her down.
Please don't feel guilty. You are a wonderful daughter!
