Gardening

It has been so beautiful this week! About a month ago I had bought some starter kits for plants to begin inside before it gets warm out. But then, with moving, they never got started! Last night I finally took them out and planted herbs (thyme, lavender, oregano), sweet peppers, strawberries, and tiny tim tomatoes!

I have never tried planting ANY of these before! I do plant tomatoes every summer but I buy the plants that are already started I don't know how well I will do nursing these plants right from seeds! But I'm giving it a try anyway. There's a tiny garden out back and I want to buy or make some raised garden planters too and I will probably transplant these plants in a month or so (when there's no more frost) if they actually start to grow!

It has been beautiful here too Lindsey! Spring is just wonderful isn't it? Good luck with your gardening. I want to put out a few things myself here pretty soon.
I bet Gayle will have some pointers for ya, I think she already has some things out.

I'm ready for some new pics of your new house

Paula, you have faith in me where none resides! LOL! I don't know anything about starting things inside from seeds. I bet there were directions with the starter kit and that's what I'd have to do - follow the directions. I have started seeds in the garden, and I just keep them damp till they sprout. But I don't know anything about inside.

Yep, I've got my plants out - my tomatoes are about 2 foot tall and I have 20 tomatoes that have set on so far and LOTS of blooms. I may have tomatoes coming out my ears!!!

Yes, the kits came with instructions and I'm following as closely as I can! We are getting rain today and some of the plants only require little spritzes of water to stay damp, so I've kept them all inside for the day. The kits said if I left them outside I could just drill holes in the bottoms of the planters for drainage, but that sounded like work

Apparently they should begin to sprout in 7-10 days and I can transplant them outside or just into bigger planters when they get to be a few inches high. My fingers are crossed!

Gayle, send some tomatoes up here I love fresh tomatoes! But I don't get them here until late summer/early fall.

I wish you were here Lindsay - to come over the pick the tomatoes while we are gone. We will leave toward the end of May and they will just be beginning to ripen when we leave. We'll be gone for 2 weeks and they are sure to be ripe tomatoes while we are gone. My daughter will come over and pick some, but she has her own tomatoes! We'll only be home for 3 days and then we'll be off to Alaska for two more weeks. I know I'll get some good ole 'maters during those 3 days, but I sure wish I could take some with me - but don't think I can smuggle them on the plane

Because we arent' going to be home till later in June, I planted some varieties that are supposed to set on and produce even in hot weather. Typically, tomatoes won't set on fruit when it is really hot, but 2 of my plants are supposed to - so we'll see. Hopefully, we'll have tomatoes all summer!!!

I'm going to plant some okra tomorrow - and one squash vine.

I wish I could be there lol! And I've never tried squash or okra... in fact I've never even heard of okra!

I spoke too soon talking about all this nice weather. There's a snowstorm at my parents' house and we're supposed to get snow/rain mixed tonight and tomorrow night And to think just a few days ago it was nice enough outside that I got a suntan!
