Hello - I feel i know you all already.
Hi
I just wanted to say a big HELLO to everyone, however i have been lurking for ages and ages, so i do know a lot about you all. I am from Cheshire, England, i live with my husband, who i have been married to for nearly 25 years, my gorgeous daughter who is 23, still lives at home - thankfully (just dont want to think about her EVER leaving home. And finally my little gorgeous Yorkie baby - Harvey, who is just over 3 years old and weighs 3.5lb. He is just my little angel, my daughter says i think more of him than her!!!! not quite true but it is extremely close - ha ha ha. I work full time as a housing officer, placing people in social housing, i love love my job, but am actually off ill at the moment - i am recovering from swine flu, it has been very nasty, still really bad cough, but am feeling much better. I just hate being home though, when you are used to being active with work etc, it is a struggle for me doing nothing - only so much TV i can stand. Thinking of things to tell you about myself............ Oh, we have a holiday home in Wales, which we try to get to as much as we can, its right by the sea and Harvey just loves the beach and chasing the seagulls - he can never catch them though, thankfully. We have moved to a new home 3 months ago, i now live in a bungalow, as opposed to a house - and i love it so much, best thing i ever did, so much easier to keep clean etc, we are very happy here. Been thinking a lot about Christmas, and in a moments madness have invited all the family to us for Christmas day, 12 people in total, may not seem many, but to me its a big task - i am worried now, so wait until nearer the time!!!!! Oh well i think i have waffled on too long already, i will enjoy being part of this site. Thanks to Janet for the welcome. Bye for now. Diane Last edited by DIANE W; 11-22-2009 at 06:29 AM. |

I'm go glad you told us about yourself. I feel the same as you...my son is 19 and I dread the day he leaves home. We are very close and he really keeps me going...lol.
I grew up in a small home...3 of us siblings in one bedroom...wow was it crowded. So I wanted a bigger home and now I've filled it. It's not huge, but a decent size 3 bedroom, but I need to get rid of some more things to make more room. Now that you're here...quit your lurking and join in. Glad you're with us...you will love these ladies.

Hi Diane!
Welcome, welcome!! Life sounds good for you and yours over there. How about some pictures? The beach house must be wonderful! I hope you are feeling better from the swine flu. How long have you been recuperating? My daughter and my grandchildren had it about 3 weeks ago. They were very sick for a few days, and now it is gone. The children have been sick on and off since with other things, since they are in school and are constantly being exposed to other germs. I am happily retired, living in the country in upstate NY for the past year and 1/2, and loving it. I am establishing a life for myself up here. I am going to meet the man of my dreams soon, I have decided! I am also putting my house together. I would like to finish up with getting everything organized here. I write, do pottery, found a Women's Network, and am meeting people and making friends. I am originally from Brooklyn, which I do not miss. My daughter, SIL and 3 grandchildren live about 20 minutes away from me, which is just wonderful.

I dont think the houses we have here are as large as you have, but i seem to have more space than i had in my house? I have had to be very careful with everything i took with me - i was quite a horder before, but was ruthless, and the charity shops all gained. It was a good time to do it when moving, and i feel so much better for the clear out. I am the eldest of 2 girls, i sadly lost my mum 8 years ago, but my dad and sister are well, though they dont live close, its not too far to go see them. I am very involved with my Aunt and Uncle (mums sister), who i care a lot for, they are like another mum and dad actually. I am very lucky, i get on very well with my husbands family too, though we have had our moments!!!!! I will be around lots - you will get fed up with me!!!!, as i used to lurk - now i will join in - honestly. |

Wow...... you sound like you are having a very busy time, with everything, i have been reading about your house move, and the renovating etc. It sounds really nice, and it is a lovely feeling when you can sit back and see everything all nice and organised - mind you something usually crops up, no peace for long in my house Ha ha.
