Renovations
I am so drained! Unfortunately, I thought we'd be further ahead in our renovations by now. Last night we just got the last kitchen counter top installed, but the sink isn't hooked up yet. I still have to unpack 3/4 of the kitchen. The red room is half put together but not really unpacked yet. Closet doors still have to be hung. The spare bedroom still has to be cleaned and put in order. Bedding needs to be washed, and the rest of the condo has to be cleaned and put in order.
I came into work on the weekend to finish a project that was due before Christmas, thinking I would have a ton of edits to do the three days this week before the office shuts down. Well, there weren't very many edits and now I'm sitting at work with nothing to do and it kind of feels like a waste of time when there's so much I can be doing at home Especially since I took 5 hours out of renovation time on the weekend to come into the office. I might take the afternoon off tomorrow, it's the last day anyway. I'm starting to think we won't get done in time. We're working until almost midnight every night. This morning I got up at 5 and stayed awake while Layla threw up about 6 times. I'm just lacking sleep and energy. Wish me luck on having a partially put-together condo for Christmas!

Awww Lindsey, don't worry so much about getting it all done. Do what you have to get done and let the rest wait. That's what I would do. Good luck with it! Everthing will be just fine.
Poor Layla! What do you think made her sick? Hope she is feeling better. |

I'm sure everything will end up being fine, but I'm a little stressed because I am having about 10-12 people over to eat on Boxing day, and it's a pretty small place to begin with so we need as much space as possible. My parents won't be in until late Thursday night, and we will be spending all of Christmas day with my brother at his house. I wish there was another week before Christmas! But I did make a list this morning and went over it with Scott, and we have goals for what we should get done TONIGHT, what can wait until after Christmas, and a few things I can do by myself on Christmas eve since I don't work, and Scott will be leaving right after work. We want some time to go see Disney's A Christmas Carol in 3D tomorrow night
I'm not sure what made Layla sick. We did feed her late last night since we were running around and didn't actually have time to eat anything ourselves! She ate her whole meal before bedtime, and didn't start throwing up until 5 am so I don't think it had to do with eating too quickly (which sometimes makes her throw up within a few minutes to an hour). The first two times it was all stomach contents, and the last few times was just yellow bile. We gave her some plain rice this morning to try to settle her tummy. I'm heading home for lunch now and hopefully I don't find any more little pools! The other weird thing is she usually will try to lick it up immediately, but this time she wouldn't even go near it.

Aww! I hope Layla feels better. Who knows why they throw up sometimes. They find things to eat that you nevefr know about because they are so tiny! Max threw up a couple of days ago and ate it. Gross!
Your company isn't coming to see your condo in perfect, finished condition, silly! They are coming to be with you and Scott. I wish I was coming too!~

Lol you're welcome here anytime Judy!
Layla is not feeling better yet. She threw up all of the rice by lunch time - 4 piles of it. There were also two more little puddles of bile. I'm trying to make her keep drinking but she won't eat anything and is acting all mopey. If she's not feeling better by morning I will try to take her to the vet tomorrow.

Poor Layla. I'm so sorry that it's all happening at once. I hope Layla gets to feeling better soon. I would try to get all the stuff done in the kitchen and living area first. Your Mom and Dad will surely understand if their room isn't perfect. Just make sure that it's clean and neat. I find that I have to start eliminating things off that aren't so important. Like for Christmas, so far the Christmas cards aren't going to be sent out and as Christmas gets closer I'll start getting rid of other things that aren't so important too!!! Good luck!!! Don't stress too much before you know it the Holidays will be over!!!

Thanks Diana. I was so stressed out last night. I ended up taking Layla to the emergency vet after she threw up blood clots. They told me I would have to pay up front a LOT of money before I could sit in the waiting room and it might be an all night wait to see someone. Scott remembered his friend is friends with another girl who is a vet, so we were desperate and called her for an opinion on whether she thought it was serious enough to stay at the emergency or if I could take her to her regular vet in the morning. She said I should be able to wait but keep an eye on her. So I had a very restless night, Layla was quite lethargic, but she didn't throw up at all.
Anyways, I did talk to my parents and they said don't worry about so much stuff here, and that when they get in they will help me do some cleaning before everyone comes on boxing day.

This morning Layla is acting normal again. She was drinking water and interested in eating her kibble, but not her rice. She is running around and wagging her tail like her normal self. I think I'm going to put off the vet this morning. I am taking the afternoon off work anyway so I wouldn't feel right missing half the morning too. She should finish eating her food right away and I will be able to see at noon if she has thrown up or not. If not, maybe she's back to normal! I hope so!
I think the blood in her last vomit may have been just from dry heaving so hard... and she just peed again and has been peeing normally throughout the whole thing so she can't be too dehydrated. And for the original reason for this post... we did get quite a bit done last night! I'm going to take pictures of my kitchen tonight for you all to see. I couldn't even fill up my cabinets with everything I have! We just have a short list of things left to do. We stayed up late last night and I'm exhuasted but it's worth it I asked Scott how our kitchen looks, and he said "Like it's not our kitchen" lol

It sounds like things are coming together pretty good!! It's nice to be young and able to accomplish so much!! I'll warn you that when you get older you slow down........a lot!!!! It will be so helpful for your parents to help you get things ready.....I'm sure that took a lot of stress off of you!! And the best news is that Layla is feeling better!!! They are so little that when they get even a little bit sick it's a big worry........maybe Layla had a touch of doggie flu!! Have a Merry Christmas!!!

Thanks Diana! I really hope she can keep her food down today. I was so frantic yesterday and even on YT I barely got any replies when I posted about the problem. I couldn't even get a vet to talk to me and that's just frustrating! I was in tears when she vomited blood because she is basically my whole world. And it's terrible timing for her to be so sick when it's Christmas and so much is going on already!
Lol I'm ready to slow down already. I need to stop thinking of all these projects. We haven't put any baseboards back on, or finished painting where the baseboards used to be (since the laminate is thinner than the carpet was, and I just painted to the tops of the baseboards before) and I can tell you that most likely won't get done until well into next year lol! As soon as Christmas is over, I'm just going to relax and look forward to laying on a beach in Mexico for a week in February THEN, maybe, I'll think about finishing the condo.

LIndsay, both Rex & Rowdy threw up blood this summer. They had an intestional infection which they can usually fight off by themselves. It is scary to be sure - but since she was feeling better this morning, I bet she will be OK. Rowdy is sick this morning, he ate, and is not throwing up, but is definitely not himself, and I think he is running a fever. I guess we'll watch him and see how he does.
I hope Layla continues to feel BETTER!

Lindsey, I hope you can post the pics of your kitchen soon. Wait till you're done doing your other things. I bet it is really pretty. Also glad to read that Layla is doing better. I never go to YT that often but did and saw where you posted she was sick. Hopefully she's back to normal now.

Thanks Gayle, it makes me feel better knowing someone else has been through the same thing! My brother brought over his new basset hound puppy, Sadie (only 6 weeks old) a few nights ago and my first thought was that Layla maybe caught something from her. She hasn't been out of the condo to catch anything from any other dog. Hopefully Sadie is doing well and didn't catch this from Layla either. She's so young I'd be worried.
I am home now, and Layla hasn't thrown up at all. She ate a few kibbles this morning plus one treat, but it doesn't look like she's touched any food since I've been gone. Her gums are still pink and she's still wagging her tail so that must be a good sign! But now I'VE been feeling sick. Just before I left work I started to get queasy and as soon as I got home I had a little nap with Layla. I think I'm just running myself down with lack of sleep and no time to eat. Now that work is done until January 4th, I won't be so stressed out though. I'm so excited to show you guys my kitchen I'll take pictures after I clean it up a bit.
