				Car Troubles

I called the dealership where I bought the car, and they were very vague, as I knew they would be. I am having my mechanic going to get the car, which is parked in somebody's parking lot on Highway 23, with a note in the window where to reach me. They haven't called me, so I'm going to assume that they did not have it towed for trespassing. My mechanic will take it to the dealer, and wherever the long and winding road of fate takes me and the car next, is yet unknown.

Sorry to hear of your car trouble Judy. You looked for such a long time to find just the car you wanted and now this. I sure hope the warranty covers the repairs. Did it just quit running? I just hate car problems. Hope it gets fixed soon.

I hope that you can get it fixed with no problems. What about your 90 day warranty? Will they still honor that?

It's the clutch, which is not covered, and it costs $1000! Plus the towing! My SIL is calling my mechanic, Craig, to see what it would cost for him to do it. The thing is that would have to include him towing the car back to his shop, so it may not save me much in the end.

My real concern is that the clutch burned out to begin with. I am worried that I am not driving this right. I said that to Carl, the service guy, and he said it is different than driving a front wheel drive sports car. It's much heavier and has 4WD. He will take me out to see how I drive it after it is fixed.

Car troubles suck!!! (to put it bluntly..lol) Sometimes they are just a pain. Wish I had one of those back pack flying things...

Hopefully it can be fixed cheaper than that...at least I hope so.

My SIL took over and called the dealership. He got it down to $500 plus tax!!!

I am so excited....saving $500 is a big deal! I do complain about him at times on our forum, but this is one of the reasons I love him so much! Not the biggest reason - he is wonderful to my daughter and the kids. So, I will have my car back in a couple of days. I also made payment arrangements with the IRS, and don't have to pay the $105 fee for paying it out. I have 120 days to pay in full, which is not too bad. Well, there goes my money. It always comes and goes, comes and goes, and on and on!

I'm glad to hear that everything worked out with the IRS and with your vehicle!!!! That's great!!!!! That sounded like an awful lot to change the clutch in the first place. I wouldn't think that in the short amount of time that you've had this that you could have burned out the clutch. It must have not been in good shape when you got it.

I am so hoping that you are right Diana! I'm worried that I am driving it wrong, and will burn out another clutch. I'm used to driving a front wheel drive sports car

stick. This is a different kind of car. Let's assume you are right! I like that idea.

I know that clutches have to be replaced with some regularity on a standard shift car. I had a mustang and it went out in about 3 years. We sold it to friends of ours and they had to replace the clutch also. So, it's not uncommon, but I bet it was almost ready to be replaced when you bought it - rather than your driving it wrong.
