Real or Artifical Christmas Tree

Ok girls, I stole this from YT ...lol How many have a real or fake tree? I myself grew up always having an artifical tree. I like to put my tree up early and have always worried about the real ones drying out. I have a beautiful 7 ft. tree, that looks real, I paid a lot for it. But it still in shape and looks beautiful. I decorate with victorian ornaments and ribbons...

For many years we have had an artificial tree in the lounge as I hated the mess real tree's left with there needle's, we have a log cabin in the garden that hubby has turned into his den and he has a real one out there so he deals with that mess. However real do look nicer so this year I may just give in and have one in the house.

We have always had an artificial. I tried one year with a real one, but it made me a nervous wreck the whole time..so never again.

I lost a friend in a fire at Christmas. They had a real tree and she lived in a mobile home. It took less than 6.5 minutes for the home to become fully engulfed. No one made it out. I love my son and life too much to take the chance! Not worth it to me to have a real tree!!

Your tree sounds like it's really pretty, Gina. You're going to have to post pictures for us.

We would always get a real tree (you know where you go out in the neighbor's pasture and chop one down!) but after we moved into our new house I really didn't like the mess so we bought an artificial tree. Now I can put it up earlier because I don't have to worry about it drying out. We bought a really nice tree that turns! It's really neat but I put so many ornaments on it that it's too heavy to turn.

Aww Janet what happened to your friend is terrible, I am sorry to hear that.. That is another reason why I stay away from real you have to take care of the tree.

Diane, I will try to post photos but I am not good at it, I don't know how to shrink the photos to put on here..lol I am also a big elvis fan, and have a replica of his manison that I put out along with a village, but every year I am getting lazier and lazier in setting it up. Must be old age creeping up ...lol

I'm allergic to real trees so I've always had a fake one.

We always had real growing up, but living in apartments & such a big tree just didn't work for my hubby & I; so we bought like a 4 foot tree from target (after christmas sale) and use that. It actually works out really nice with the animals, we set it up on a card table in the corner & that keeps the dog out of it.

I understand how that is. I'm thinking about how I can scale down what I put up too. It just takes so long to put the decorations out and put them up and no one cares to help. Must be old age........nope, not going there!!!!!

I absolutley love real trees...O the smell!! I just love it...but, we have a woodstove insert in our fireplace in the living room which, is where our tree goes so....a real tree isn't an option for us...it would dry out to quick....I use an artificial tree and burn a christmas wreath yankee candle...people think I have a real tree because of the smell....

We always have a real tree. My husband has wanted an artificial one for years. He wants to decorate it and after Christmas put a big bag over it decorations & all and put it in a walk-in section of our attic until the next year. He grew up with artificial. I grew up with real.

Last year, I was finally at the point having decorated trees for so many years now, that his idea was sounding like it might just be the way to go. So we mentioned it to our daughters, and you should have heard them. It just would not the Christmas without a real tree. Our youngest was especially adamont about it, so we put up a real tree, again & will this year, I'm sure.

I have a very long funnel with a long dip stick that is hidden in the back of the tree to monitor and add water without crawling up under it (bought it at the big tent they setup to sell trees each year). I also have a recipe for a mixture of chemicals that would keep the tree alive longer, but cannot use it due to the furkids. Sometimes they get under there for a drink.

We use the cooler twinkle lights and are very careful to turn them off at bedtime and whenever we are away.

When we have a tree, it's real.
I just got my tree today
I am worried it will dry out lol, but the boys said that they had just gotten the trees that morning (which was true, because they had actually just set up that morning, I know because it's like a block away from my house) and they did the cutting off the bottom piece so it would last longer
idk how else to make it last longer
and the holder is set up so the dogs can't drink from it, luckily!!
I'm worried about my yorkie eatin ghte pine needles though... do you think she will?

I love how they smell! but if I could find a really amazing fake tree in the future, I would buy it and just get the sprays that make it smell fun

This is the first year we have had a real tree. I don't think I could ever put up a fake tree again. THe smell is unreal. I LOVE the smell of pine! We just got it yesterday.. So far so good! We bought a Fraser Fir and it is nice and full! The nursery said that as long as we keep it watered then it should last for at least a month. They also put a fresh cut on it to help it soak up the water.
