Does anyone know Poodles?

My buddy Moses is my first Standard Poodle. He's been growing like a weed, and I've started to wonder at what age is a standard poodle fully grown?

I know Labs and Shepherds are about 2 yrs old before they're truly mature... but what is the age with Poodles? He will be 9 months on the 24th of March. He's already 23" and 54 lbs. The breed standards tell they should be over 15" and between 45 and 70 lbs. Not much to go by there!

Anyone with experience with these loveable dogs would sure be appreciated right now.

I'm sorry. I don't know anything about poodles either, especially the standard sizes. I've only had small dogs. I'm sure someone on here will be able to help!

Sorry Tink, I can't help you. I only had a Toy Poodle. Would love to have a Standard, but I just can't get every dog I want....they would have me committed.

Standard poodle reminds me of Paris, a lot of the Paris ladies have 1 or 2, even 3, they walk them thru the city, they look SO elagant! All i know about the breed is that they very intelligent.

Sorry Tink, no help either on my end. I used to have a toy poodle named Keeko. And, I do love the look of the standard poodles. They stand so proud!

Maybe a search on Google might give some insight to your questions?

Id love for you to share pics of Moses. I bet he is wonderful

Thanks all, I've looked and looked on google and other search engines for info on this. I did finally get a bit of an answer this evening. One site says they're sexually mature at 18 months, and another said they will continue to mature until about 24 months. So that helps some... I still can't find anything on how long he will continue to actually noticeably grow.

When I got him at 4 months of age he was 27 lbs... so he's gained 27 lbs in under 5 months. He's small by german shepherd standards and that's what I'm used to. Poodles are often taller than a GS, but are no where near as heavy.

So anyway, on with my search. Coupld be that only time will tell, huh? LOL

I'm glad you at least have a little more information than you did. I'm sure no matter what size your Moses ends up being, he will still be your baby and he'll be adorable!!

I don't know about you Tink, but sometimes the obvious slips my mind....have you tried the AKC site? They usually have lots of information on the breeds.

Moses is such a doll. He looks as though he's got a great personality.

Thanks for sharing his picture.
