When I was bad my mom would pick up the phone (dial our phone number) and tell me she was calling The Home for the Bad Kids. She would pretend to talk to them and I would scream and cry as I wrapped myself around her leg as I apologized. She would then tell "the home" nevermind since I was apologizing. I laugh at it now, but I didn't then! LOL
I also used to be very constipated. My mom would make ME go to the frig to get the cold sticks to stick up my butt!!! I told her a few years ago that she traumatized me for life! LOL I can't remember any other events. I know these aren't BAD, but I was never beaten. Smacked, yes, beaten, no. If I think of others, I'll let you know!

I was very lucky to have parents who were for the most part, very good to us.
I got a few spankings, but nothing I didn't deserve; and once had a fat lip from Mom backhanding me when I swore at her.

Ugh - this thread brings back some ugly visuals in my head. Let's see. My Step Dad noticed a spot on ONE of many dishes I had just finished washing by hand. (We didn't have a dishwasher). He took out every single dish in our entire kitchen and I had to rewash them. So, this I blame him for turning me into the anal sort that I am today.
Ummm, another would be my natural Father told me I was retarded when I was an adult. To this day I sometimes believe him. (don't kids always believe what there parents say?) Ummm, My Mom? Let's see....Nothing too major actually that I can recall. Thank the good Lord for that!!

Awww, you are sweet Janet. I don't ever really feel mentally bruised by it, I received more positive things then negative from my parents so it's all good. There's even times when that "anal" personality pays off, LOL. (My house usually stays clean) And...I only question if I am retarded when I can't balance my checkbook, LMAO!!

I brought home a report card with a couple of C's on it in middle school. (I always made A's and B's.) Both my parents gave me such a tongue lashing. One of them said that no one in their family had ever made grades that bad, and the other one agreed that no one in their family had either. This is all that I can specifically remember, but they humiliated me about it for quite some time. I found out many years later that my half sister had made grades much worse.
In high school, my only C was in typing 2. Which my father made me take because since I was a woman, all I could ever be is a secretary or teacher so I had to know how to type. I fixed him and got an engineering degree and went to work with a bunch of men. I must admit though that I am glad he made me take the typing. With all these computers, I can touch type as fast as I can think. My parents were good parents. They did the best they knew how. Don't think they meant to actually hurt me. When I was born, my mother was 39 (born in 1914) and Daddy was 41 (born in 1912), so they were very old school.
