another example of why i don't like my husband...
he has NO tact....
so, yesterday, sitting at a very nice restaurant with my husband, my investor, and our title attorney, my ever so sweet husband announces to me...and everyone else at the table "oh, by the way honey, you have high cholesterol". my jaw dropped. he has NO tact. none. this is the first i have heard of it. apparently the insurance lady emailed him and told him that when i had my physical done, it came back that it is high. she didn't indicate how high...but that i should start seeing a doctor for it. well...it would have been nice if he told me this in the privacy of our home...not announce it at the table of the restaurant with everyone else there!!! I truly do not like him. anyway....so...i guess i have that to worry about. funny...i was watching on tv yesterday about low cholesterol diets and how you can not be overweight but have high cholesterol and not even know it. wellllll...what a coincidence huh?? so i will be working on that

I agree 100% with you, that was NOT the time, and place to tell you that!! Men can be thoughtless at times

That was rude of him. Would he have liked it if the tables were turned and YOU would have been the one to announce "By the way, I got an e-mail today about your physical and, you know that little rash you have? It is jock itch but it's easy to treat!" I guess that you'll have to be the one who has to teach him how to be tactful!

Its called privacy and I think the insurance person should not have even disclosed it to your husband. They should have called you.

Anyway, he definitely could've been more tactful in that situation! Sorry you had to be embarrassed like that. Maybe next time he'll think before he talks since he knows this hurt you.

I went to the doctor recently & they asked if it would be okay to leave messages about my health with my husband & I said it was. But I agree if she didn't give them permission then it's wrong. & unless her husband has terrets he needs a good kick in the crotch....not literally.

Actually, under HIPA rules medical information cannot be shared with anyone without their permission. My daughter worked in a pharmacy and now a doctor's office and she is very much aware in talking to me about work to not mention names or give too much information. I don't know if an insurance company would be held to those same rules or not. You could call them and ask and let them know that you did not a appreciate them sharing your information with your husband. I bet you'll find out that someone made a mistake.

You know, I think a lot of things in life can be summed up simply by saying "Men!!!" LOL!

I agree with everyone else on here. The insurance agent should not have been able to tell your husband this. Usually I'm more frustrated about the HIPA requirements and think they are silly, but this is one example of when they actually are good. I would contact the insurance company and ask them about this, before they do this to someone else. My hubby asks me to take care of a lot of his medical insurance stuff for him, and I am frequently asked if my husband knows that I am calling them on his behalf.
And with regard to your husband, I agree, MEN!!!! They can be so frustrating. They just do not think. Mine is trained not to do things like that, but we've been married 33 years, and it took time and lots of patience to get him to this point.
