Ok I got the thyroid results back...

I just spoke to the Dr's office and the nurse sent me a copy of the results. The Dr is actually out so I won't be able to speak to her until sat about them. I also made an appt to see my regular Dr for further inquiries. I am now on month 5 with no period.

Here are the results:

Thryoxine (T4) 7.2
T3- Uptake 28.4
T7 (FTI) 6.0
TSH 3rd Generation 2.67
HCG, Quantitative <2
FSH 4.6
LH 5.94
Prolactin 3.9

I appreciate any feedback you ladies can offer that are suffering from this conditioin. Not sure what the numbers are really supposed to be.

Thanks for your help and support with this.

TSH Under .4 can indicate possible hyperthyroidism. Over 6 is considered indicative of hypothyroidism. Note: the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists has revised these guidelines as of early 2003, narrowing the range to .3 to 3.0. So even by the new tighter standards you're well within normal range on you TSH 3rd Generation @ 2.67

T4 / Serum thyroxine Less than 4.5 can be indicative of an underfunctioning thyroid when TSH is also elevated. Over 12.5 can indicate hyperthyroidism. Low T4 with low TSH can sometimes indicate a pituitary problem. So your 7.2 is good.

Free T4 / Free Thyroxine - Less than 0.7 is considered indicative of possible hypothyroidism. Normal range is FT4 0.7 to 2.0

T3 / Serum triiodothyronine 80 to 220is considered normal. Less than 80 can indicate hypothyroidism. so your T3- Uptake at 28.4 could be a red flag

It looks to me like you don't have a thyroid problem. "course I'm NOT a dr... so could be wrong. lol

Thanks guys. I am going to see my primary care on Monday and let him take a look at the results. Hopefully someone can figure it out.

I am going to start taking the tabs for the missing period. I tell you it does suck to be a woman at times.

Tink, you did a good job at telling her what the numbers mean! I don't have a clue. I have to go by what the doctor tells me.

Bizzymammabee, I would be a little concerned that your period had stopped because low thyroid can appear to be menopause starting. Hopefully the doctor will help you out. Keep us posted on what you find out.

Update

Well I saw my primary care Dr. yesterday. He said the thyroid values seems to be normal. But he finds that my thyroids seems enlarged. So he is running every other test that the GYN didn't run. I am scheduled for a Thyroid Sono on Friday after work to see if the thyroid is actually enlarged or if it's a bit of fatty tissue. While doing the exam (yep the old guy got to cop a feel..lol I was thankful that it wasn't the younger Dr in the practice....lol) he said he found an enlarged lymphnode by my left arm pit. So he ordered an xray to check it out. Most likely it's a by product of the onset of my period since I just finished taking the meds. I am also scheduled for a batter of blood test on Saturday. Once that comes back we will reconvene. He figures all should go well once my period comes down..wish my GYN would have told me that the cramping would be as bad as some labor pains. He said at worst if the period problems continue then he and my GYN have to set up for me to see an endocronologist.

I asked him if it was possible at all that it was perimenopause...he told me to not even think of that...it's way way too early. He said if I were closer to 40 then it would be a thought.

So for now girls that is where we stand. I told him to run all the test he wants because I pay a damn arm and a leg for my family's health insurance so I might as well use it.

I really appreciate all the help, support and information you girls have given/shared with me.
