I have a date with Matt!
Ok! Ok! So not really a date! And not with our Matt!
I've been exchanging emails with a customer named Matt. He called because he wanted to advertise with ME! He emailed me his beautiful ad. I made him a pretty logo. Then I emailed a quote. He liked it. He said "Job well done Van Houten" which was just funny to me. He spent $4000 with me. I pulled some strings and got his ad in the early edition. That made him happy. I rock! He then tried to pull a fast one and tell me that I quoted him for 2 Sundays and 60 days online....I didn't he bought 1 Sunday and 30 days online. He said that after all we've been through he was expecting the fast friends discount. So, I offered him 3 Sundays and a year online for $10000! He declined. So I asked if he would be interested in placing 7 30 day online ads TODAY (this is what I needed to make my goal for the month). He declined again, but said he wished he could help. Is this romantic yet or what? ::A little background:: I have this friend from Grad School, Kevin Jones. Kevin and I have this tradition that every year on our birthdays at midnight, we send a text to the other that says "Happy ****ing Birthday!" Kevin's b-day was the 4th, and I forgot. After Grad School Kevin began working for a Property Management company that has offices all over LA and Orange Counties in CA. Kevin never called me Heather, he called me Van Houten, HVH or Dr. Van Houten. ::Fast Forward to Wednesday:: I got an ad from a Property Management company in Santa Ana. Santa Ana is right next to Orange, which is where we went to school at. The contact? Kevin Jones! He called later because he screwed up in the ad, and it wasn't him. Right after, was when Matt called. He starts referring to me as Van Houten and HVH. So, I told him the above story, and asked if he was Kevin. I said that I think Kevin is haunting me because I forgot his birthday. Matt emailed back and confirmed that he was NOT Kevin, but the story was funny, and said he would be devastated if I forgot his birthday. I let him know that Kevin has forgotten like two or three times, so once wasn't all that bad. Especially since its not all that hard to remember my birthday. Mine is November 4th, his is February 4th. We are exactly 3 months apart. So, I told Matt to just not tell me when his birthday was, and that way I wouldn't have to worry about forgetting it! BUT, since I had made mention of when my birthday was, that I expecting flowers and a card, and that I want him to track me down wherever I am working then and have them sent to that office, so all my coworkers would be envious. He said that I am pretty damn funny and that we should go get a drink and appetizer or something after work sometime. I told Andrew and Tina about this, they said its weird and creepy. Is it? |

Heather you sure know how to get our attention!! LOL
I really don't think it is creepy, maybe I'm missing something and should go back and read. I think the guy likes your sense of humor and just wants to get to know you better. What is a drink going to hurt. BUT DON'T LET YOUR DRINK OUT OF YOUR SITE! If you get up to do something have your drink gone or take it with you. I freak about city dating as you can tell. |

I don't think it's creepy at all - today people are so busy at work that the don't really get out to socialize and meet people - many times the work place and the people that you encounter there end up being your dating pool.
Just go to a public place and see if you are comfortable with him. Oh - and I think it was very naughty of you to imply that you were going to meet "our Matt" - you know that we are a bunch of matchmakers that have been trying to set up the 2 of you. |

I AM on strike! But, I'm not dead! I'm not opposed to being swept off my feet! By strike, I mean more that I'm not so desperate to be in a relationship that I compromise what I really want. I know that any relationship is give and take, but every relationship I've been in has always been more giving on my part. I just need to figure out what it is that I want and which of those things I am willing to compromise on. There are some things that I need to feel loved, and the right man will provide those things. |
