So fun to see!

My son is engaged and today he and his lady got their keys to their first apartment. They had NO furniture so decided to save up and combine their money to go shopping together when they found a place.

So today they went out and bought a king sized bed with a huge ornate head and foot board at an almost unbelievable 75% off sale. They both fell instantly in love with it.
Next on their list was a TV. Since we have a family member who manages a pawn shop, they were able through him, to line up a 52" Magnavox LCD TV in perfect condition for $225! Tomorrow they plan to move themselves in and go shopping for the MANY household items they don't have.

It is SO fun to see their excitement and pride at being able to do this for/by themselves. I'm so happy for them and excited to see how much they're enjoying decorating their space their style. I pray they continue to find SUCH great bargains... it will mean the difference between them being comfortable or not since they agreed they will ONLY buy what they can afford to pay for immediately.

Considering we had to PUSH him out of the nest just over 3 months ago, it's heartwarming to see how he has grown and managed since then. I'm so proud and relieved it's turned out as we hoped it would for him. I just had to share.

Wow Tink, you are on a roll with great news today! I am so happy for you. I remember how you were trying to push that young man out on his own and now you can see what a fine job you did raising him.

How exciting for them to fill there new home with their own special taste and at such great bargains. I hope they will be able to continue this great streak they are on.......and you too!

Joel will soon be 22... His lady Shannon will soon be 20. So I think they're doing well for themselves considering how young they both are! This is the happy couple.

They've been together just over 2 yrs and got engaged at Thanksgiving. We all really love her and are SO glad he chose someone we can truly feel is a daughter to us.

She has such big beautiful brown eyes... I don't know WHY she has them pretty much closed in both pictures. lol

It certainly sounds like they're getting some good deals to begin with. That's how my first home was furnished. Hand-me-downs and garage sales!!!!! Oh to go back to those simpler days............no money but lots of love and time!!!!

we have decided to do one room at a time and completely finish it before moving on to the next. Before starting this I was trying to do alittle in each room and balance it out, but I was feeling like nothing was ever going to be finished. I think this way will give the satisfation of a finished product. It's a long process to get a home the way you want it and when money is an issue, it is even worse. Every two weeks I bought something for the house. It might have only been one thing I liked for the dollar store but it was something. With our income taxes we bought a new desk, a computer chair, a sheet set, a bookshelf and decor for the kids rooms. My bedroom, the living room and both daughter's rooms are very close to being finished. My mom helped with my oldest daughter's room and the kids bathroom. They were so excited to have a "kids only" bathroom that they asked to decorate it as christmas presents. My mom got each kid something for the bathroom. It is now in fish, frogs, and ducks. My daughter's bedroom has a beautiful white almost victorian looking head and foot board, desk, dresser, and nightstand. This came from my youngest sister who decided she wanted a change and it looks brand new. I am stilll looking for two nightstands and a chair for my bedroom.A new entertainment center(with closing doors), a new couch and end tables (which are already picked out) will finish the living room. I am sure they will love when they get to decorating and finding a compromise on where their styles will differ. I know it can be a chore, but I love finding "the right piece" that my husband and I both love. They are a very cute couple. She looks so friendly. Congrats to you and them!

I'm so glad it turned out so well! Remember when you thought they'd all never leave? Look how it turned around. No doubt their wonderful Mom had a lot to do with how great they are.

They are such an adorable couple. He's cute - trying to look all macho, and she's so beautiful!

Aww, I can definitely tell how proud and excited you are for them. They are lucky to have such a loving and caring person in their lives.

I remember the days of buying just a little at a time and trying to stretch a budget. Bren and I are doing a hundred times better now than when we first got married, but there are still things we'd love to buy for the house and improvements we'd like to make. It's been fun trying to find our own sense of style and very exciting to not be in debt AT ALL and still be working towards our goals.

It seems Joel and Shannon are off to a great start!
