I noticed a few of you were
reading harry potter. So any witches on here or is this a straight muggle board?

I'm a muggle with no special powers or skills. I can't even make edible spaghetti. There are days, however, in which I would not mind having an invisibility cloak.

I feel so stupid...what's a muggle? I looked it up in my old dictionary, but it wasn't in there. Guess I'm just going to fake it...I'm not a witch (well I can be) so I must be a muggle!? Is it a Harry Potter term? I'm one that didn't see the movies or read the books.

Yes, muggle is a Harry Potter term. It means a non-wizard.
The books are really quite good and are worth checking out if you enjoy reading fiction. |

Remind me not to post in the wrong section.
But no, I have not read any of the series... maybe I should check it out! I am looking for something new to do with some free time because I hardly sleep Welcome proto! (Should I post that in a different section?) |

Come on, we have a nice community here. We always have. There is no reason to make fun of anyone.

You guys still have a "Nice Community". There is nothing wrong with teasing a good friend. My goodness... life would be quite boring if you can't "Laugh" when funny things happen.

I've read most of the series - I enjoyed the earlier books more that the books later in the series. I think the beginning ones were just some fun fiction, the later ones seemed to have some sort of different undercurrent running through them. They just had a different "feel" to them - don't know if that makes any sense to you.

I agree, Dobie. I think the later books were more "dark" than the first two. But I enjoyed every one of them, and even stood in line at midnight one time to get mine!!! I guess you could say I'm a total Potterhead!!!

i enjoyed those books so much! loved the words and all...the "owls" and all of her imagination...i'm convinced there is a magical world that we can't see....and i always knew Snape was a good guy.

yep there is a world you cant see!!!!
many christian groups came out against these books as "softening " the edge of occult activities. I know we are all adults. Do any of you think these books have made magic/witchcraft more mainstream for kids? |

What I don't understand is, some people condemned these books (probably without even reading them) because there is witchcraft. Well, what about The Wizard of Oz?!!! I distinctly remember a good witch AND a bad witch. I just don't get what all the controversy is about.
