WW Update

Well ladies...I'm a little disappointed in that I've only lost 1 pound. I didn't cheat and thought I was following the instructions to a "T", but only 1 pound is gone. I will try to do a little more on the treadmill or go for walks outside more and drink even more water.

When ever I've gone on a diet before, I've lost 3-5 lbs the first week. I'll just keep plugging away and maybe if I'm destined to lose it slower, it won't come back!!! Wouldn't that be great????

Janet, that is FABULOUS news!!!!!!!!! The "diets" you were on previously were obviously very unhealthy ways to lose weight. When you are losing weight in a healthy way, like you are doing now, you are only supposed to lose 1 lb per week, at least for the first few weeks. If you keep following the diet to a T and doing your exercies and drinking lots of water, the weight will start melting off after a couple of weeks. So, HANG IN THERE!!!!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!

I know you can use some inspiration, so let me tell you about my friend. There is a new secretary that just started at my office last week and she sits right next to me at work. She was telling me just the other day that she has been doing WW since November 2005 and she has lost 100 lbs!!!!!!!! She looks SO amazing!!!!!!!! I would have never known that she used to be overweight! So, keep up the good work! She also has a family (2 kids and a husband) and a full-time job, so I know if SHE can do it, YOU can do it!!!!!!!!

WAY TO GO, JANET!!!!!!

You really are only suppose to lose 1 pound the first few weeks??? I was shocked that it was only 1 pound and to tell you the truth, disappointed. But if it will get me where I want to be, then I'll suck it up and keep going. I haven't really been hungry, but what few times I have, I've ate broccoli with FF dressing or celery with pnt btr. Long as I know this is what is suppose to happen, then I'll be okay with it. It's hard to know exactly, because I'm not attending any meetings, just using the books. It's great that I have you and the others to make sure I'm on the right track.

Thanks Sheryl....bunches!!! I was just worried because when I saw that just one pound was gone, I thought I was doing something wrong. BUT, I guess I'm on the right track and I'm one determined woman!!!

I can appreciate how hard this is for you. The same week you started your diet, as did I. Towards the middle of the week the scale measured 4 lbs less. Knowing it was only water weight I was still happy. But, the end of the weeks results it ended up only showing 1 lb lost. Then....today I am right back where I started a week ago with nothing lost. However, I know I didn't do hardly any exercize and I ate most the weekend.

It is frustrating but I am so thrilled you stay focused and have the attitude you will only try even harder. Heck me, I'm like "screw it, give me a beer!!". I'm not strong or will powered when it comes to "giving up stuff, especially food"... Food has always been such a passion of mine.

Keep going girl, you can do this!!

Then grab my arm and let's do this together. I love food too and it has been a struggle. Not that I've been really hungry, but I want my chocolate or regular milk instead of the white water they call skim milk. I know in WW they only limit you to points, but that's where I had my trouble. Instead of wanting to eat the things with 0 points I wanted more of the points in the stuff I really like. I'm not giving up, so don't you either...we'll do it...just takes time.... so I'm told..LOL

I would rather lose 1 pound and have it stay off than lose 10 pounds in the first week and have it all come right back. You are doing great Janet, don't get discouraged. My mom has tried every diet under the sun. She even did the cabbage soup thing where all she ate was cabbage soup for a whole week. She lost 5 pounds but gained it all back once she switched to regular food. She has never done WW because she doesn't have the patience or committment. What you don't realize is that not only are you dieting but you are also training your body to eat better and smaller portions. It is an entire lifestyle change but one that is not only going to make you slimmer and fitter but also more healthy and help you live longer. These are benefits you don't necessarily see when you step on that scale. We have all been friends for a short while, but we all want to have you around for a VERY long time, so please don't give up. Keep up the good work and we are all proud of you!!

Janet,

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS! on losing the one pound! It is when we take time to celebrate the small, baby steps, that makes the long journey worth it in the end I'm so very proud of you and your determination to succeed with your weight loss. You have earned the right to celebrate and be happy with yourself. Don't let the 1 pound loss be a discouragement to you on your journey - let it be that first step, the beginning, of many steps to come that make you happier with each one you take! Hang in there - we are all supporting you and encouraging you along your way. You don't need WW - you have 4WT!

What kind of drinks are you drinking, may I ask?? If you want to lose a lot of weight fast, it will be water weight, like rivermom said. If you want that gratification, drink ONLY WATER this week. It will flush the sodium out of your body that is causing you to retain water. You will lose a lot of weight that way. At least then you will know how much is water weight. Then you will have the peace of mind knowing that all the rest of the weight you lose will be actual fat! That is a nice feeling, you know?

Keep on doing what you are doing. It takes 2 weeks for your tastes to change. So, stick with your good eating habits and after 2 weeks you will find that your cravings will begin to change. Keep up the good work!

Changing habits is just plain hard. There is no easy way, but once your body adjusts, you may actually come to prefer skim milk, and whole milk will not taste right. It's really all mental. If you mind is set, you can overcome. Not to say you won't cheat from time to time. We're not perfect, we're just not wired to be.

I've been on a plateau for about 5 weeks now. No matter what I do, I'm stuck with a 3 lb range. Last night I worked out for over an hour trying to get the fat burning to kick back in. It is very discouraging, but hopefully, if I keep it up, the pounds will start to fall off.

Keep up the good work!!!!! We can do it!!!!

I've drank mostly water, but did have two glasses of milk this past week. I'm made up my mind I'm not hopping on the scale except on Tuesday's to do the weekly weigh-in. My son and I are going to take the babies for a walk in a little bit so that will help too.

Thanks for all the encouragement. It is so nice of all of you to suggest things, encourage me and well just be there to help lift my spirits when I think I'm not doing so good. So...ladies....it's on to next Tuesday's weigh-in.......
