New Week
Hey All!
It's Monday - sometimes on Mondays I say "UGH", sometimes I look forward to the week, and sometimes I'm ambivalent. Today I'm looking forward to the week. Why? I don't really know??? There's nothing really exciting going on this week so not sure why I'm looking forward to it. Maybe because it is the second week of school and I just met my new students last week and they seem like a good group and interested in learning. Maybe because the weather is supposed to be pretty nice all week, except we may get some rain tomorrow/Wed. which we DESPERATELY need - we only got 1/2 our usual total for 2008. Or maybe just because How 'bout ya'll? Looking forward to the week, is it an UGH week, or is it that you just don't care? And why?

Wow Gayle, I must say that your enthusiasm looking forward to the week has kind of rubbed off! I got up thinking, crap, another week of dealing with kids that I'm just not in the mood for. Then I read your post and thought, there are some kids on the bus that I truly enjoy, plus Lynne said she MAY try and bring the dogs over so I can help get them trimmed up a bit. So I'm looking forward to that. I haven't seen Lynne since before Christmas and I miss her. She's off this week so hopefully things will work out. We are suppose to get some snow and neither of us like driving on snow packed roads so it may not work out, but hey....if not, we'll get together when the roads are better.
You've just changed my whole outlook for today Gayle......thank you!

I'm looking forward to this week. We're suppose to get some snow, ice, and sleet for the next couple of days. I love being stuck at home when it's bad. I think it's because I feel so safe at home and I love that feeling. Groceries are all stocked up.....so bring it on!!! (I can say that because I don't have to get out and drive to work in it!!)
On the other hand, I have Karlie and boy, is she wound up this morning!!! She's been singing at the top of her lungs for the past five minutes and now she disappeared into the living room!! You never know what to expect from her!! Dae Lynn brought some clothes for her just in case it's bad enough that she can't come and get her this evening. We thought that it would be best to be prepared just in case. I may try and get my scrapbook stuff out today which may not work out with a 2 1/2 year old nearby!!! We'll see!!!

Well, I may have spoken prematurely about good weather this week. The forecast i heard yesterday called for cooler weather tomorrow (50's) and rain - but on the way home today, I heard a local weatherman on the radio say we will top out at 40 tomorrow with a 20 mph wind and there is a winter storm warning for ice tomorrow night and Wed. morning. We usually get one ice storm per year, so maybe this will be it - who knows - the weather can turn on a dime here. It's almost as likely to be 60 degrees and sunshine on Wed as ice (she says from 23 years of experience here).

We've got just a little bit of snow that barely covers the ground so far but it's on top of a layer of ice. It's not too bad but very slick to drive on. The schools are out for a snow day because of the ice and Jaci doesn't have to go to work (unless they call her).
I think that the grandkids are coming over to decorate some tin boxes that I got them so this afternoon will be busy. Karlie won't be here though because she was sick yesterday and up most of the night with an upset stomach. I felt so sorry for her because she would just sit and cry. Dae Lynn had to leave work early and come and get her. I think that it will be a gingerbread and hot tea day!!!!

I started the week feeling really good and optimistic after the weekend. However, when I got to work, it's the same old ongoing financial issues with Lyondell. It's like trying to work through a maze every time we have to do something for them. Rules keep changing, yes we can, no we can't. UHHHHHH!! Soooo frustrating.
Went to a Toastmasters meeting last night and thought it would be a nice break....well, the topic of the meeting was the economy and related issues. So you know how uplifting that was. Would someone please just stop the merry-go-round for a few minutes and let me off for a while? Wish we could have a snow day!!! There is so much I'd want to do at home though. Things that need to be done, so I'd probably just clean or something. What I'd like to do though is curl up with a good book or movie. At this rate, I'll be working forever........................

I like this week. I have some things to do, and some good snow days to cuddle up with the dogs and watch TV.
Monday night I went to a Board meeting of the Women's Network that I found. I enjoyed it and found that the women there are great. I was on the Board of a womens' center in Brooklyn and felt like I was back at one of our old meetings! I may join the Board here. If not, I will become a very active member. There are a couple of women I could be friends with there, which is a gift. We were asked to bring a plate to pass. I was going to go to Grand Union and pick up something from the deli like a beautiful salad. I didn't go. I told myself I am who I am, and there's no reason to pretend to be any different. So, while a lot of the women brought the most delicious dishes, I came in with my 2 boxes of Entenmann's Valentine's Day cupcakes, announced that I just don't cook, and that was that. It was fine. Now, I'm running out to get my hair done, and Thursday night, there's a show in town that I would like to go to, weather permitting.

I started out the week NOT looking forward to the week, and I'm ending the week looking forward to next week
We had a big project due this week so I had to work a lot of overtime. I love being the head of my department except when it comes to crunch time Scott left for another snowboarding holiday on Tuesday, so I had to get my old "supervisor" to help out in drafting and he's basically useless. I made and edited 11 drawings, and asked him to do ONE. That was too much for him, and when he didn't get it done, it was my fault. BUT yesterday we got the report finished and out the door Scott comes back from the mountains on Monday and will be here for another two weeks before leaving for ANOTHER week of snowboarding. But I really can't wait for him to be back again. I really never thought I would or even COULD like somebody this much. I really miss him. Yesterday I went home for lunch and my cell phone rang.. it was him! He wanted to see how my day was going and to say he missed me. I asked him what he was doing and he was just on the chair lift Next week is also supposed to be really warm. I'm taking Wednesday off work to go snowboarding with a friend for a day... I'll leave Scott with the responsibility at work for one day I deserve at least a tiny holiday of my own!
