HUGE snowstorm
We are having 2 or 3 snowstorms in a row. I woke up this morning, and ran downstairs to see the snow. It was amazing! My deck is almost filled with snow, and it's not a big deck!!!
It was so beautiful this morning, I could not believe my eyes!! I was going to take pictures, but the plow guy (Terry) came through, and he also dug out my steps. It's not as gorgeous as it was before he dug. It's going to snow again tonight or tomorrow, so I'll take pictures when it's fresh. We're supposed to get from 12 to 17 more inches by tomorrow or maybe Friday. I still don't understand the weather reports here! We also get more snow because we're on top of the mountain. I really don't know how many inches we got. A lot! I will take lots of pictures. I let Max and Annie go out and they were so excited! Terry dug a path to the road behind me though, and Max ran down that path. I was barefoot, and ran after him! He's not allowed to run out of my line of vision. It was fun running barefoot in the snow! I wouldn't want to do it for more than a minute though.

I measured where I could reach on my deck, and the snow is 22" high! It's still snowing too. I don't really know when it's supposed to stop. Jessie went driving this morning, but I am not leaving this mountain!
I took some more pix. The first one is a sideways shot showing how much snow is on the deck.

I'm thinking you should get some of that snow off the deck. Don't I remember you learning last winter that you needed to get snow off your house somewhere??? roof???
Anyway, it sure is beautiful!!!

Holy cow Judy....that is a bunch of snow. Saw on the news where you're suppose to get more too. I hope you know that you won't be thawed out till some time around the 4th of July....LOL. We are suppose to get up to 3 inches tomorrow...I'm ready for it to stop and warm up, but then I know I've said this before. Your pictures do show just how pretty the snow can be...the pictures are beautiful.

I'm not liking this anymore! I am trapped in my house because of the snow! The guys couldn't get here to plow or dig our paths today, and it snowed a lot! My friend who lives up top in the condo, didn't feel well this morning, chest pains, and so on, and called 911. She is fine, but they had to get a hold of Terry somehow to plow the 5 foot snowdrift blocking the entrance road, and then they had to dig a path to her doorstep. The whole thing took about an hour! Thank goodness it wasn't a heart attack! She knew she was okay within about 20 minutes of calling them, but she let them dig her out and the EMT's checked her out. Poor Roxanne!
When I woke up this morning and saw how much snow had accumulated, I didn't like the feeling of not being able to get out, but I figured if anything happened, I would call 911. If there was a fire, I figured I would grab the dogs and be pretty safe in the snow. When Roxy told me what happened to her, I really felt claustrophobic! No kidding - this is scary and creepy. I have never been closed in like this. My steps are covered with snow, as is my path, and the snow is so deep! Even if I did make it up to the road, my car is buried. Even if I dug it out, the roads are covered! I guess I could just walk through the snow. I am perfecty okay, and have decided not to make myself crazy since nothing has happened, but it is really creepy! I don't want to be really freaked out! My entire county is buried in snow. At least I have electricity. A lot of people don't have any! We have our own generator here, and I have food and it's warm. I can't wait until tomorrow when, hopefully, they will plow and dig me out. Cars weren't allowed to even use the roads today. They were closed to all but emergency vehicles, and it was still snowing last time I looked. I took some more pictures. #1 and 2 are of the deck yesterday. #'s 3 and 4 are of the deck today. I'd say it's about 4 feet of snow on the deck by now.

These are the steps and the hill in front of my house yesterday, and the last two are the hill and my steps today.

WOW! Judy!!! That is A LOT of snow. I would feel trapped too. I hate being in the house and unable to leave for any reason - let alone snow!
Once when I was in college we had a blizzard (in Oklahoma) and I was staying in a trailer with my girlfriend for the weekend. The doors to the trailer were on the north and there was a terrific wind with the blizzard. The snow drifted up over both doors of the trailer and we could not get out for 3 days! We didn't have any phone service, but did have electricity! I didn't like that feeling AT ALL! Now, we could have gotten out the windows on the other side of the trailer, had we really needed to - but still, it was, like you say, creepy!

Three days! Scary! What really freaked me out was that there was no way to get to the road. I could get out of the house - into the snow. I figured if there was a fire I would be okay hanging out in wet snow with the dogs. The plow has been here already, thank goodness! My front steps and the path are entirely snowed in, and the steps to the road too. It has stopped snowing, and I guess they will dig out the people who are living here today. Most of the people who live here are weekenders or summer people. They don't need to be dug out right away. I will feel much better when I can walk up to the road!
