When I went to the lawyers office today to take the appraisal in to them, the secretary asked how I wanted it titled. I asked her if it was a good idea to have my son on it with mine and she said "no". That if something should happen that he would default on loans, file bankruptcy that the house could be taken away. That it would be better if I just willed it to him. I had them put it in my name only. I know that if Rick and I should ever divorce, he could fight me for 1/2 of the house, but there are other things I could give up if it comes to that.

That would be really dirty to take away something that was an inheritance. Hopefully it won't ever come to that.

You will take care of that, if it ever comes to pass, Janet. You can arrange it so that, rather than just giving him other things, you can buy out his half of your Mom's house with these other things. This way, he could never reopen that.

I went in town this morning to do my banking and stop by Mom's to see if there was any mail. Most of it comes here, but a few still slip through. As soon as walk in, I get such a good feeling. I just wanted to share that. It just makes me happy!

I know Betsi....it just seems strange not to call it Mom's house. Sure wish I could afford to go in and change the carpet, but that will have to wait. It's been in the house a long time, but Mom has always taken care of things so when my sister-in-law shampooed it a while back, it came out looking so clean and bright.
