Bad Weather!!

We're suppose to get some really bad weather today and up to 13 inches of snow by tomorrow. It hasn't started too much yet just a few flurries so the kids went to school, but I think that they'll be home early. Our electricity went off for a hour or so a couple of times last night. It's kinda' nice to have candlelight all over the house and the smell....... Vanilla in one room, cucumber melon in another, and flowery smells in another room......all the way through the house!! I got groceries yesterday and my gas tank is full, so I think that I'm ready. I just need my family to be here so that I know that everyone is safe and warm

I guess that I better get my hot cocoa mix ready. We'll be sledding tomorrow!!!

Kansas, also

Hi Diana! We are in Kansas, too. The freezing rain yesterday was horrible!! The baby snowflakes have started to fall, and they are predicted 5-8 inches for us. I drove DH to work today and yesterday so I could keep the car in the garage... that way no one has to clean it off after work.

Only in Kansas is it record-setting 70+ one day and freezing rain with 10 degree windchill the next.

It's days like this that working from home doesn't pay off. How do you call into work and say you are "snowed in"? Ha!

Tina, Where do you live in Kansas? I live outside of Fredonia. We're in the southeast corner about 100 miles east of Wichita. I have a little yorkshire terrier too. His name is Reuger.

We are only expecting less than 1 inch of the white stuff. Indiana is like that weather in Kansas....It was 65 yesterday, 64 this morning at 6:00 AM and tomorrow morning it's suppose to be 33 degrees. We have had thunderstorms, tornados, rain, sleet and then snow all in one day before. We Hoosiers tell everyone that if you don't like the weather, just wait...it'll change...LOL

We are in Wichita. Are you a member of YT? I remember a SE get-together that was going to be held in Fredonia. Was that you? I couldn't make it because we were in KC for the weekend.

I assume you get KSNC news with Dave Freeman (meteorologist)? He came on a bit ago and said we were getting thundersnow. I didn't know there was such a thing!

Just read an article online in the Eagle, and it said we could get 10" which will shut down the city. It's already drifted a foot deep in our courtyard!

The temp here usually lingers between 70-80 for most of the winter, but this morning it was down in the 40s and tonight it's supposed to freeze!! I was running late to class this morning and forgot my jacket. I had to take off my rings because they were freezing my fingers!!!

No snow for us though, it would be nice, but I think if it did snow here my firefighter boyfriend would be at the station 24/7 cause no one around here's used to it.

It's cold and windy here tonight. 15 degrees right now with a windchill about 10 degrees lower. We have no snow right now and are north of where it's supposed to snow tomorrow. We had rain and upper 50's most of the week. Seems winter is coming ready or not.

We've been having blizzards all week! In about 2 and a half days we got about 25 cms... which is about 10 and a half inches. We've had windchills during the day of -35 degrees C... I'm going to try to convert that for you guys lol... -31 degrees F. Anyways, I've been at school until after dark for the past week and it's a cold walk home with the blowing snow! But it definitely feels like Christmas!

I hope everyone is safe & warm today! I thought about all of you last night after I read this thread and saw the weather warnings on tv.

I love cold weather (no hormones ) but not to the point of anyone being in danger.

I just came in from taking my yorkies out and it's really muggy here this morning. It's 6:30 and I'm about to head to my parents' house to check on them before work ( I do it everyday) . I can't believe how hot it is outside! I think we'll have thunderstorms before it's all over today.

Ya'll stay safe!

My goodness, this morning the wind was blowing so hard I thought it would blow the bus off the road! On my way home from dropping the kids off, we had a mixture of rain and snow, but right now the sun is shining. No snow on the ground and I just pray it passes right by us. We'll see!
