Rootroo the plumbing's fixed!

The plumber just left here after having fixed the pipes broken by the accident last weekend. What a treat not to have to listen to water spraying constantly! The plumber brought me the pipe pieces that he replaced and told me all about how copper breaks under pressure. LOL ALL I care is that it's fixed!

I also got a call from the insurance company that will be covering the repairs. They promised to send us an adjustor to give us a price on repairing the damages and negotiate a price to take care of it all.

I did find a place that specializes in mobile home repairs, so am waiting for them to call with an appointment to come check the place over for me. They're about an hr away, but were willing to come when I mentioned that insurance would be covering the repairs.

That is hilarious that the plumber took the time holding copper piping while explaining to you the affects it has on them with too much pressure. I can visualize you standing there listening to him saying 'uh huh, uh huh, uh huh."

The things us woman have to deal with at times w/ repair men. Do they not realize that most us woman don't care about affects of pressure and that all we want is the problem fixed? Goofy man!

Glad you are moving forward with the repairs!

Thanks ladies

Yes, Rivermom, I was in that glazed over eyes, "Uh huh" mode... lol

I have an appointment with the mobile home repair place to give me an estimate on Monday afternoon for the damages. I'll be glad to get that behind me.

Hubby is being a poop about it all though. He's trying to convince me that since the house is older, it's unfair to expect them to repace everything like it would be if it were new. He says the insulation was in less than perfect condition to begin with, so it's not fair to expect them to replace it with new... Ummmmmmm how else do you do it? I can't imagine they're going to go hunting for 20 yr old insulation to put on it! Now that the insulation is soaked with water, it HAS to be removed. Before, it was at least dry!

The roof is a similar debate... he said it would have needed to be sealed this summer anyway, so he doesn't want me to include those damages in the claim. We don't even know if there ARE any damages to it, but I sure as heck want it inspected to be sure! Hubby wants to minimize the damage as much as possible and do his own repairs... I know he doesn't have time to do them so I'd wait months when it could all gt done the way it should right away if we let professionals come in.

I don't want to rip anyone off, but I don't think it's unfair to expect that they pay to repair what damage was caused by the accident. The insurance reps I talked with so far agreed with me and they're the ones who would be paying.

Why are men so stubborn?
What would you do?

Tink, you are not being dishonest. There are reasons why you pay for that insurance policy. Now it's time to use it so I say "get it all done". It clearly doesn't make sense that they would repair with used/old stuff because that's what is in your mobilhome. Insurance companies dont work that way.

You have the chance to have your insurance pay for this stuff. Go for it!!

Tink, I agree with you and Sheryl. They can't make repairs with old materials, and you have probably paid for this insurance for many years without filing a claim. If the insurance company does not have a problem, I'd get it done. Besides, there is no telling how much hidden damage is there that the adjusters and you will miss. If any of the repair is better than the original, well that will balance things out.
